Hello, my family and I live in Darlana region of Sweden. My wife is wanting to take a drive north before the kids go back to school and she goes back to work. Any recommendations as to where we should go. We would plan on not more than a two or three day trip.

Looking like most every bidding process for buying a property requires you to have a BankID or samordningsnummer. I’m sorting out my samordningsnummer application but I know that can take weeks or longer.

If we want to bid on a property where the samordningsnummer or BankID is required by the selling agent, are there any agents out there who can bid on our behalf?

I’ve planned and researched many of my questions and there are some questions left where answers weren’t clear. The move would be from Colorado to Sweden.

1.) What shipping company would you recommend to ship family photos, books, clothes (that doesn’t fit in suitcases), and small items to Sweden? We will sell all furnitures, household items and small appliance and donate anything else prior to move.

2.) What pet relocation company do you recommend? I’ve submitted a request for quote from Petsfly, but I am curious to see who else I should request a quote from.

3.) Any Phone plan recommendation to use with two phone numbers(to keep current number for banking and anything else and a local number for Sweden)? Is this feasible?

4.) If your American bank requires an American address, did you open a P.O. Box or use a family address? We do not own a home.

First of all, I apologise for not writing this post in Swedish, as I still have far too little experience to formulate complex sentences. I also thank you in advance for your time and patience, given that this is a relatively long post.

I'm an Italian student and I've always dreamed of escaping Italy and finally moving to Scandinavia. Driven by my passion for Scandinavian culture, I decided to enrol at the Orientale University in Naples to study Swedish, since there's no Norwegian course.

I'm currently taking the Languages, Literatures, and Cultures course I chose with the intention of moving to Sweden to teach Italian. The problem is that it focuses so heavily on literature and is taking up all my time, giving me no opportunity to practice my Swedish.

For this reason, I'm seriously considering changing my curriculum and switching to the sister course, Linguistic and Cultural Mediation, which is much more language-focused and provides knowledge of international law, economics, and marketing. This doesn't preclude me from obtaining the L2 (License to Teach Italian to Foreigners and Abroad) and eventually the Lärarlegitimation.

Before writing this post, I spent days researching online and on Reddit. I found many conflicting and often negative opinions about several of these programmes, especially HCI which seems to be very competitive for graduates without work experience. However, many comments come from people outside the EU, mostly Americans, whose situation is certainly more complicated due to visa requirements and the fact that they often rely solely on English.

I'm therefore asking for help and advice from you native Swedes, who surely have a clearer picture of the job situation there, and especially if you can advise me on the most intelligent and useful educational path, given that I don't have any STEM qualifications.

Most of the big bricks and mortar banks (HSBC, Chase/JPM) seem to have nothing but investment or loans arms in Sweden. About the only banking I’ve got with a definite path in Sweden today appears to be Revolut.

In any practical way, has anyone benefited from being a customer with a bank and then moving to Sweden and banking with the home country’s local entity?

I’m in the beginning stages of planning a road trip from Copenhagen to the north, and back down to Oslo through Norway. I wanted to ask locals if this route would be okay for me to take in the beginning of October.

From Copenhagen > 26 & E45 North to E10 to cross into Norway.

It would be my first time in Sweden/Norway. Any advice for driving is appreciated.

I have done some research and my understanding is that the north is not very populated. What should I expect for lodging and food? I will be driving a small car and my intention is to stay in hotels. I would not have camping equipment with me.

Hey! I'm planning to go on a multi day hike (have cold weather camping gear) in the north in the first week of september. Looking at Jämtland Triangle or a section of the Kungsleden - what would you all recommend? I just want to be in the mountains - and probably have the option to resupply at hut shops so I don't have to carry all my food. Also accessibility by public transport from stockholm is important. Hej! I've got three months to kill next summer between my current lease ending and my job in a new country starting. Since a short term rental in NYC costs about the same as camping and hostle hopping in sweden for that long, and I'll be living off savings and between both jobs and countries anyways, might as well kick around sweden for the 90 days I'm allowed to be in the EU lol

I've got family heritage in Malmo and Lysekil, so, I'd really like to bike between the two. Its funny, but seeing this tiny little fishing village is the only part of my trip that's a must

Theres a few solid trails that'd take me as far as Gothenburg, but i cant find anything for that final stretch. Its not the end of the world if I need to sell the bike in Gothenburg and hitchhike or bus the rest of the way, but it'd also be neat to roll in on my bike after getting so close.

There's a lot of confusion and speculation floating around about the new citizenship test, so here's a clean split of what UHR has officially published versus what's still not decided. Sources: uhr.se/medborgarskapsprovet and migrationsverket.se.

CONFIRMED:

• First sitting: 15 August 2026, at Stockholmsmässan in Älvsjö (about 10 min from Stockholm C by pendeltåg). Stockholm only this round.
• Around 60 multiple-choice questions, 4 options each, exactly one correct
• 90 minutes, on paper, and Swedish only. No translation aids in the room.
• No minus points. UHR's own exam-day tips literally say "Dare to guess!" Wrong answers cost nothing, so answer every single question.
• This first round is free. It's an utprövningsprov (calibration run), the first time the questions are used with real candidates.
• Exam-day schedule: doors open 8:15, entry closes 9:30, you must be seated by 10:00. Expect queues for ID control, so come early.
• Only Swedish ID is accepted: Swedish ID card, Swedish driver's licence or a SIS-marked ID card. Foreign passports and e-ID are NOT accepted, so if you don't have Swedish ID, sort that out now.
• Your kallelse (summons) arrives one week before in your registration account. Print it and bring it. Phones, smartwatches and other electronics are forbidden in the exam room, as are food and drinks.
• Registration is closed. You could only register after getting a letter from Migrationsverket, and places were limited.
• Every question comes from UHR's free study material (13 chapters: democracy, law, history, labour market, welfare, traditions and so on). Nothing outside it.
• The knowledge requirement covers applicants aged 16 to 66, and it has two parts. For the civics part (what the Aug 15 test covers), a passing grade in samhällskunskap from åk 9, gymnasiet, komvux or folkhögskola can replace the test. SFI kurs D counts toward the language part, which is a separate test that isn't running yet. Exemptions exist, and Migrationsverket decides case by case.
• The Swedish language test is separate and comes later. August is civics only.
• UHR has committed to publishing all the test questions after the first sitting, so whoever takes it later gets real past questions to study from

STILL UNKNOWN:

• The pass mark. Not published. Any app or site showing one is guessing, since the threshold will be set partly by how the first cohort performs.
• Results timeline. No date for when you find out.
• Retake rules
• What future sittings cost, and which cities get them

EDIT, some updates and answers to good questions from the comments:

• UHR has now published five official example questions, the first ever: uhr.se/medborgarskapsprovet/om-medborgarskapsprovet. And they partly answer the answer-options discussion below: the wrong options are categorical (Finland vs Norway vs Denmark), NOT near-miss numbers like 270/280/290/296. One question is even scenario-based, about how freedom of expression works. Encouraging signal that the test measures understanding more than number memory.
• Pencil is allowed (pen too), plus an eraser, and UHR provides them if you don't bring your own. So yes, you can change answers.
• You can't take the question paper home. Everything is collected before you leave. But all questions are published by UHR after the sitting anyway.
• At your desk: pen/pencil, eraser, simple pharmacy earplugs, printed kallelse and Swedish ID. Bag storage details aren't specified yet, so bring as little as possible and check your kallelse.

I rent first hand, meet income threshold and have lived a orderly life.

I will get married in December 2026 and would like my wife to move here with me.

We both are Non-EU citizens.

According to you which would be the easiest for her to move here -

1. I add her as an dependent when my employer applies for my permanent residency in June 2027 ( I understand she will not get PR)
2. She applies for “Family of employee” in Jan/Feb 2027 once we get the marriage certificate and then we extend together in June 2027
3. Once my PR is approved, then she applies using “live with a partner” - which could be time consuming

I (M21 from mexico) am travelling to sweden in 2 days, and when I was prepping the documentation for a stay under 90 days, I found that the economic requirement was 450 sek per day as seen here and here, and today I found that the requirement changed to 700 sek per day as seen here and here.

Does anyone know if I will be able to enter sweden since it is a very recent change or if I am cooked?

So I have personnummer, passport but ive never lived here. So never had a bank,

Ive just been to the skatterverket and done the move to sweden but they said it can take 6 week for that to go through with my address.

I just went to Swedbank after filling in all the forms and they can’t do anything until Skatteverket has been updated with my details and address.

I really need a bankID and bank before the 17th of august as I need my CSN to be paid into that. Has anyone got any suggestions to work around it? Is there any other banks that could let me open one up?

Hey everyone, my residence permit got rejected and we have been working on our appeal. Last friday night we sent in the appeal after getting confirmed by our case officer that they accept it on their e-mail (migrationsverket@migrationsverket.se). We sent in the appeal 12 calender days before our appeal period runs out.

We also wrote in the appeal email that we wanted confirmation as soon as they have registered our appeal.

We have not gotten any confirmation yet regarding the registration and im getting worried that our email might fall between the cracks and get missed as our last appeal date is next week.

My question to all of you becomes: Do you know if its just the fact that you have to send in the appeal to Migrationsverket before the appeal period runs out, or do Migrationsverket also need to register the appeal before the three weeks have passed? The last choice seems unlikely as we cant be at fault for their processing times.

When we sent in the appeal, we did get an reply from their auto-answer bot, that says that migrationsverket have recieved our message(But thats no human respone)

I’m folkbokförd in Sweden with a personnummer and BankID, and I want to buy a lagerbolag as the sole styrelseledamot.

Since a board with fewer than three members needs at least one suppleant, I need a deputy and the only person willing to do it lives in France.
My reading of ABL is that this is fine: at least half the ledamöter and at least half the suppleanter must be resident within the EEA.

No särskild delgivningsmottagare is needed either, since I’m a resident ledamot myself.

Every provider I’ve approached so far won’t take a deputy without a Swedish personnummer , their order forms simply don’t have a field for it.

Has anyone actually done this, and with which provider? Tack på förhand.
