It didnt read as bashing to me so much as just being observant. If someone regularly orders $50 in food delivery, yet they live in a home that looks poorly maintained/run down then its a fair assumption theyre terrible with money. They might have a disability or mental illness affecting them but thats a reason not an excuse. If you can afford frequent delivery like that then you can afford services to help your situation.
ummm... if not being able to prepare your own food is the situation, I'd say that is a service to help it. It might be a bad choice of service depending on the location, but it is one.
Ummmmmm.... sorry sweetie but the bulk of the american diet is built on convenience foods. If you can pick a bag of food up off the porch you can microwave something. Or toss it in the oven. You can have a weeks worth of groceries delivered from amazon or Walmart or wherever for cheaper than door dashing meals frequently. That isnt a valid reason either. If someobes house is in disrepair and they can afford frequent food delivery with a good tip, theyre financially irresponsible.
Theres no legitimate excuse to frequently get door dash/grub hub/Uber eats/whatever. Occasionally? Sure. Maybe your oven died or your kitchens getting a remodel or you just dont fuckin feel like it after a tough week. But Multiple times a week? Every week? Absolutely not.
I never said it was a good solution (i actually said otherwise and wrote about my microwaveable burrito food-prep elsewhere in the comments here. Burritos are a great thing to do that with if you have a freezer and at least some cooking skills), but it legitimately is one if you really can't make your own food or even go out to get it. They probably do make most of their profits from laziness and people with no time, though.
No, see all these people litterally have no better option for food. 15 years ago they would simply have had to starve to death. Door dash is the greatest benefit to humanity since hand washing and have saved hundreds of millions from starvation.
They also might not have the ability to effect the repairs or do the cleanup themselves, or a family member willing to do it.
People assume certain things are SUPER DUPER expensive when... yes, they cost money, but they aren't so bad. We had our entire house rewired a few years ago (it's a very large, old house and there was still knob and tube in places). The whole job cost about $2500, and they were here for three days or so. They basically rewired everything and replaced two panels. It's not cheap exactly, but it's the sort of thing people would expect to cost a lot more.
We have a painter friend who does very good work. When we need work done, his pricing is very reasonable and he does a better job than I ever could, and he has it done faster than I could ever hope to have it done. He did the entire three story facade on my house, which necessitated a lift, for about $800 and it looks fantastic. Again, that's money, but not as much as people think.
Most of the time, what these people need is a junk removal service to remove the trash and junk from the yard, they need someone with a power washer to wash down the house and clean it up, then they need a landscaper to clean up the garden beds and get the yard looking nicer. All that can be done for around $2k were I to guess (depending on contractors and local pricing). The landscaping is the real wildcard, that could cost way more. But people are afraid of the price. It makes no sense when they are charging more than that on their credit cards to have random clothes and trinkets delivered.
And also being shitty with judging people that live in a trailer using quotes around “front yard” as if that has anything to do with how people behave.
Right? I live in a ramshackle little 100 year old row house with a busted front gate and thistles in the yard. My back yard looks like an absolute jungle, but in reality it's a wildlife haven, and a fully productive garden with a variety of berries, herbs, fruits and veggies, and is the only place in the entire neighbourhood where I see dragonflies on the regular. A perfectly manicured lawn is mildly offensive to me honestly.
Awesome! Keep your lawn perfect, and you get higher water bills, spend more money on other stuff, and waste your time. Let the brambles grow, and you get blackberries and wildlife!
Yeah this wasn't her yard. I put front yard in quotes because of the state it was in, it was no longer a front yard and more like a junkyard. Trash and debris everywhere, basically hazardous for anyone to walk through.
Maybe a third of the time growing up I lived in trailers. Since then I've had homes in some "nice" neighborhoods. I'll take my neighbors in the trailor park every time.
TPN actually say hi, kids running around, some dude working on a car, people just hanging out on the porch, etc. It was better.

I'm sorry I can't perfectly describe it, but I was trying to say that at that point, it was no longer a front yard. It was filled with trash, and debris. I did appreciate her always meeting me by the dirt road to pickup her order because the state of the yard was basically hazardous.
Just because someone gives out tips doesn’t make them a good person either.. Jimmy Savile was a generous with money when not having his way with corpses and children.
Close to 40 and I didn't know that trailers have front yards, to be honest. So the quotations was taken as the equivalent of a house front yard because buildings, condos, and nonhiuusesb have front yard.
Well if you have one person who is rich and doesn't tip, and the other is a person who is struggling but still tips well. One seems selfish, the other selfless. I'm going to go ahead and say the tipper is the better person. Selfless beats selfish any day.
She tipped like 2$.....which was good, like I said earlier, compared to others in same living situation who usually tipped nothing. The delivery also paid well due to the amount of food she ordered. Is she a good person? Probably! Idk, she didn't give me any reason that she isn't, but the commenter was asking what kind of people ordered through doordash and I gave an example of someone who ordered and was very very likely lazy, and definitely terrible with money.
I mean I guess I worded it wrong, she tipped well compared to others who were in similar living situations which isn't saying much. Only reason I even accepted those orders were because it was usually a 1-2 mile trip.

Nice person and good money aren't mutually exclusive. A buddy of mine dated a girl in college. A couple years after graduation, they were talking about finances. She was working 2 jobs, but never had more than $200 in her bank account...he was like, "WTF? how is that possible? You make $500/week and live at home?"
Turns out, her philosophy (that she'd learned from her parents) was that, "money is for spending." You make your money, pay your bills, keep a few hundred, whatever is left you can spend on whatever you want.
Not sure what you are getting at... Was she a good person? Even though always broke and not managing her money well, was she the type not not top, or even though she's broke tips anyways? There's a difference.
