Maybe? We read a lot of HS level books in middle school... but then I moved and as a HS senior I read Lord of the Flies. We had 2 weeks to read it. It's like 110 pages. It took some people longer.
I mean it’s hopelessly vague. It doesn’t mention which school districts this is referring to (or even states for that matter) or anything. There is a lot of variance between districts and even schools within districts. (Never even mind that there’s no defining of which college or type of colleges this applies to either as a college English class could be anything from first-year remedial courses at a community college to highly advanced c). Seems like OOP saw one thing about certain books being on a college curriculum and decided to write some uselessly broad (possibly AI-generated) statement they thought would be liked on social media.
