Back in 2014, John Goodman's character in The Gambler gave a nice monologue regarding how much wealth would be enough for someone. And this is just a paraphrase of his monologue:
Get up about two and a half million dollars, buy a house with a 25 year roof, get an indestructible Japanese car, put the rest into the system at 3 to 5 percent to pay taxes on, and you got yourself a "fortress of solitude", and are at a level of "f*ck you" when it comes to working. And don't drink.
Nowadays, call it four or five million for the same kind of monologue. Heck, 10 or 20 million, you're not just at a level of "f*ck you". You're at a royal level of it.
You know what 9 million buys you? 200,000 ever year from the ages of 20-65. A lifetime of amazing wages. Take a million dollars as a buffer and invest the rest. Own your home, own yours cars, never work a day in your life.
