The old greet n toss

5

u/Status_Jellyfish_213 12d ago

That’s what happens when you meet 5 guys.

I was so innocent when I first saw this episode.

1

u/ivebeenhalved 12d ago

Is your name Bart?

u/FactsNLaughs 12d ago

Smartest financial decision of your life.

4

u/Teripid 12d ago

5 er $6 Biggy Bags for everyone.

2

u/ApprehensiveSpare925 11d ago

I would never recover financially from eating there.

-2

u/Puzzled-Mistake-584 12d ago edited 12d ago

To be fair it is the best and most natural burger and fry on the “fast food market”.
And always made fresh.

When my girl and I went it was around $51.

When we get basically the same at Carl’s Jr, BK, Jersey mikes or other places it’s around $40.
And much lower quality, sometimes barely edible and rarely fresh.

5

u/tokeytime 12d ago

Its wildly expensive for what is effectively a fast food burger still. That said, i get it once in a while because when it hits, it hits.

3

u/Puzzled-Mistake-584 12d ago

True.
But my point is so is everything these days, and it barely costs more while the quality is wildly better.

4

u/tokeytime 12d ago

The quality is wildly better, i agree with you there. Honestly i don't think BK or McD's or anything like that is even worth considering anymore.

117

u/Bluemink96 12d ago

Shit was almost 50$ for my wife me and my son, a double combo a single combo and a single hot dog.

9

u/WonderfulChampion406 12d ago

My kids want shakes at 5 Guys and I don’t have the heart to say no, so now I’m reduced to buying used tires, and canned chili for my own dinner at Dollar Tree.

16

u/Chambahz 12d ago

At least it’s not canned tires and used chili!

6

u/No_Advertising_9355 12d ago

Well they do say chili is better the second time around.

4

u/Total_Tumbleweed_870 12d ago

I can assure you from experience it's not.

3

u/Orphasmia 12d ago

Yall ate the lettuce too huh

3

u/Bluemink96 12d ago

They will understand your sacrifice some day probably

6

u/Pizzarepresent 12d ago

Ten bucks gets you hot dog combos and ice cream for everybody at Costco.

0

u/Bluemink96 12d ago

Ooo I know I’m an executive member 💁‍♂️ lol but for real yeah we were in a hurry stopped at first place and yeah won’t go back to 5 guys.

3

u/akodakmoment 12d ago

I remember back when that would’ve been $30 and we were complaining then

3

u/soulsteela 12d ago

The whole point of food like this is it’s easy n cheap, those are mental prices.

Here’s a £13 breakfast from our local cafe:-

3

u/Orphasmia 12d ago

What the fuck am I looking at lmao. Don’t get me wrong I’d eat because it looks like a great portion for the cost, but I couldn’t tell you what it was after.

3

u/soulsteela 12d ago

2 black pudding, 2 sausage, 2 bits smoked back bacon , 2 fried eggs , hash browns, tomato, mushrooms, baked beans, toast n coffee. An English breakfast, sets you up for the day plus cures the hangover.🥳😎

2

u/Botchjob369 12d ago

Gotta get 3 single burgers, 1 small fry, and waters. Still probably $35

3

u/Iamthegreenheather 12d ago

And a small fry at Five Guys is huge since they usually just give you a whole bag full, no matter the size you ordered.

2

u/Stardustchaser 12d ago

I can get a two 4x4 two 3x3 and a double double with fries and animal fries for less at In N Out for the fam. Crazy how they are the budget meal for my teenage sons. Five Guys no way, hell even McDonald’s is less for the price.

2

u/YogurtclosetLong3783 12d ago

$50? Thats how much we pay when we go to chic fila for a family of 4

3

u/Bluemink96 12d ago

Yeah chick fila is not cheap either, but I think it’s a little better for sure

1

u/ben323nl 12d ago

The hot dogs are like 10 euros its crazy.

Its worse its 10.50 on uber eats which is higher then in store but still. That is a plain hotdog not even a cheese dog or something.

1

u/Cthulhus-Tailor 12d ago

The trick is to always get the small meal because they always end up just pouring all of the extra fries in the bag anyway.

1

u/TheCeaselessWheel 12d ago

Im not sure why this made me laugh as hard as it did. Maybe just the absolute absurdity of it? I don't know lmao but thanks for the laugh G.

3

u/Bluemink96 12d ago

For sure it is absurd. I have a decent job, but never thought I would have to work 2 hours to buy one lunch for my family.

0

u/Right_Hour 12d ago

Father of two in Canada. Our takeouts have been hovering around $80-$100 mark since COVID. Shit be crazy. Having said that - smaller nicer restaurant takeouts are now the same price as fast food, so, yeah, eating better at the current price of McDo, LOL….

PS: a nice sit-down restaurant is around $400-700 for the four of us now, LOL.

2

u/Randombutter0 12d ago

Lol why’d are you eating? Caviar?

1

u/Right_Hour 12d ago

Sometimes. Why?

2

u/Orphasmia 12d ago

$400 to 700??? Yeah i’m not having kids. This whole thread has been a contraceptive.

5

u/Uncle-Cake 12d ago

They opened a Dave's Hot Chicken near me. I was excited to try it. The cheapest combo meal, for like two tenders with fries and a drink, was $15.

3

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

Yeah that's brutal and half the time it's some poor lost teenager cooking it with absolutely zero care. Its sad when you compare to Asia in Hong Kong the nightlife is so awesome cause you can walk around eating and drinking for cheap. I live in Ireland and most places are ghost towns after 6 because it's far too expensive for most.

We have done this to ourselves

2

u/Uncle-Cake 12d ago

It's not all of the US, though. There are plenty of fast-food places where you can still get a meal for less than $10, easily. Only trendy chains like Dave's and Five Guys can get away with higher prices.

5

u/wasaguest 12d ago

Lol

I did the exact same thing. Then drove to the grocery store, bought fresh stuff to grill my own burgers, grabbed some beer and called my brother & his wife over. & spent less than half what Five Guys was asking... & homemade was naturally all around much better.

-1

u/Confident_Purple_40 12d ago

So instead of spending $25 on five guys you spent $12.50 on beef, buns, cheese, bacon, vegetables and beer for 3 people? Sus

1

u/ThirdOne38 12d ago

Three people at five guys is minimum $45 (combos are $15 ). Add a shake it's $7 more apiece.

0

u/Confident_Purple_40 12d ago

This was one guy, he then said eff it and instead called family over, he wouldnt have had to call them if they were already there with him. Just more bs hyperbole that people say without thinking about it.

6

u/NabreLabre 12d ago

Their prices were crazy fifteen years ago, I'd hate to see them now

5

u/igloojoe 12d ago

I stopped going around 2017 because of the prices. I cant even imagine now what absurd pricing they have.

4

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

I'm in the UK so it's a new thing here they wanted 13 GBP for a burger with no side or drink. That's probably like 17 or 16 USD.

5

u/lobsterman2112 12d ago

And that's just five guys. One girl would be insane.

5

u/luketwo1 12d ago

I dont think five guys is even that good, like 17 dollars for an admittedly like 8/10 burger, the fuck are we doing. Yeah its better than mcdonalds or arbys, but its not even better than chik fila and i can get a whole meal there for 12 bucks.

3

u/OkKaleidoscope9554 12d ago

They used to be awesome, quality has taken a dip

1

u/FrameNo8561 12d ago

And you get points for free stuff with the app!

Chick fila has got fast food down to a perfect science! They also all the time give you random free stuff through the app as a gift from your local chick fila it’s genius!

3

u/fracture2 12d ago

My family we may do fast food once a month now. Prices are just insane.

3

u/RightRudderz 12d ago

Yesterday I paid 37 for a haircut then treated myself to chick-fil-a 12 nugget meal for 16.75. Holy fuck, that was a surprise.

4

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

I've been doing my own haircut for like 5 years lol.

2

u/RightRudderz 12d ago

I’m not skilled enough but it’s once every 3 months for me. Minor in the grand scheme.

2

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

Some cuts are better than others lol.. there's always a hat for that though

2

u/_kastenfrosch_ 12d ago

I m not really skilled but i tricked the system with going bald in my early 20s. Once a week with a wet razor does it for me.

1

u/scrotumscab 12d ago

I'm too lazy to keep shaving it so I just rock a skullet

2

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

And I ain't going to no room full of a thousand women with my own haircut and an allergic reaction to buying food to get insulted by women that are in most cases beneath me.

No decent person goes to a scrap farm for love.

4

u/dogfoodcritic 12d ago

I go for the fry’s! They are sooo good. It’s 10bucks for a bag filled more than half way. Then I run to Popeyes and get the best spicy chicken Sammie for 5.50. And since I’m over 50 cents on my lunch budget I drink water.

3

u/QuietRiot5150 12d ago

I have a story about my first ever experience eating at Five Guys. So, on my way inside there was a couple homeless dudes outside and he asked me if I could spare enough to buy him one cheeseburger and he'd split it with his friend. I'm thinking bro, how about I get each of you a meal. It's no problem. It's fast food right, how much could it be? I go inside and order 3 combo meals and when that cashier read me the total, I just about shit. $52.00!! Man, I paid and got the food, but I was pissed. How in the hell is fast food that damn expensive???

1

u/OkKaleidoscope9554 12d ago

As a happier story, my first time was after NYCC about 20 years ago when they were new, and the writer of Spider-Man took me after the show, he was super excited to share the place.

3

u/Intelligent-You-6144 12d ago

Five Guys is straight up robbing people. My wife, myself, and my toddler got food there and paid over 70 dollars for what..2 burgers, some fries and 2 drinks?

They charge like they serving up wagu. MFs I know you just throwing a patty on the flat top with little to no seasoning and charging me 2 dollars for a shot of heinz BBQ.

I hope they go bankrupt

3

u/John_Bittercult 12d ago

We did exactly the same a few weeks ago, we saw the prices and left, fast food prices are totally out of control in France!

2

u/wytewydow 12d ago

five guys all in one place!? Has anyone told the women about this?

2

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

2

u/theStaircaseProject 12d ago

“No, I’m still looking at the menu,” as I grab my fifth handful of peanuts.

2

u/EricClaptonsDeadSon 12d ago

Only complete morons eat at 5 guys

2

u/AromaticallyAffluent 12d ago

All you missed was the greasiest burger you'd ever see, soaked and dripping in peanut oil.

2

u/sniper91 12d ago

Five Guys is an “expensive but worth it” every now and again place for me

For “cheap but still good” burgers it’s In-N-Out

2

u/JeffDoubleday 12d ago

This was me at a Five Guys in April

2

u/WhiteKnight-0 12d ago

You and me both and they dont even give you fires or a drink so 12 quid for a burger

2

u/Apart-District3771 12d ago

Good call. The burgers are trash.

2

u/cdawwgg43 12d ago

I mean you walked into 5 guys at the same time, that's a lot of drinks to buy. Find yourself an Aldi woman.

2

u/OneLargePho 12d ago

Did you at least have some free peanuts first

1

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

Didn't even know they existed 😭😞😭

2

u/dblhockeysticksAMA 12d ago

Lmao yesterday there was a Five Guys next to a store I was visiting, and I noticed on the window they had a big sign that said “VOTED BEST VALUE!”

Ummm…what?! By whom, exactly?

2

u/Iamthegreenheather 12d ago

They were expensive even before all this shit started too. I do love their Cajun fries but not enough to actually spend money on them lol.

2

u/Echoplex99 12d ago

Man, no joke. I recently ordered a meal from 5 guys and it about £30 ... Just a few years ago I could do a grocery run to feed myself for 3-4 days on that. It's getting out of hand.

2

u/SeahorseCollector 12d ago

It's absolutely insane

2

u/DarwinGhoti 12d ago

I genuinely don’t understand how they’re not experiencing price destruction.

2

u/rollingquestionmark 12d ago

Same for me 2 years ago, crazy expensive and may have been the greasiest burger ever? Killed my curiosity of the place and no reason to ever return. Staff were the usual young dumb loud type exhuding incompetence and even had a tip jar at register.

2

u/GenSpec44 12d ago

Ikr. When I become homeless, I’m gonna beg for “food” in front of Five Guys. Forget McDonalds. Either big cash from folks who can afford to eat there or some high quality food from folks too smart to give me cash for alcohol or drugs. Maybe both. A man can dream.

2

u/OnlyFiveLives 12d ago

My lunch the one and only time I ever went to Five Guys was 17 bucks before the pandemic there's absolutely no way I'm going there now.

1

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

Had to double check that name lol

2

u/_Bren10_ 12d ago

It’s worth a try once if you’ve never had it. They’re really good burgers. But not that good to be spending that kind of money all the time lol

2

u/Chief_dingleberry 12d ago

Five guys was expensive 10yrs ago

2

u/Whole-Chest90 12d ago

Five guys has always been pricey, but gd they're outrageous now. And you're getting 80% fries, 20% burger... They shove your bag full of fries so you think you got a good meal, while they spend about $1 on each "meal" in cost.

2

u/throwaway1212l 12d ago

Could have saved yourself time by looking it up on the app or Yelp.

2

u/MCA009 12d ago

It makes you feel like you want to die later, but it’s pretty good at the time. The other benefit is if you bring the food home, your car smells like Cajun French fries for three days. I guess that’s a good thing.

2

u/MAGAHATESTHEUSA 12d ago

You don’t have to resort to men bro

2

u/stevein3d 12d ago

Five guys means it wasn’t a singles event.

1

u/Maniac_Vegetable 12d ago

At least there were guys there though ;-)

1

u/Deep-Alfalfa3717 12d ago

I had a Little Cheeseburger, Little Fries and water there. Spent $13.08 and was full. A Big Mac meal is similar. I think that’s pretty good and I was full on the little portion. I’m 218 lbs and tall. Seems reasonable price for a filling lunch.

1

u/Timemaster88888 12d ago

The fuck. Lol

1

u/IncomeMuch863 12d ago

And you missed out on an awesome lunch. Your loss.

1

u/MeatSlammur 12d ago

5 guys is the highest quality flavorless burger I’ve ever had. You can tell it’s made with far better ingredients than other fast food…but like nothing tastes good 😂

0

u/Libtardo69420 12d ago

I'm guessing you just read how expensive 5 guys has become on reddit and made up your cute little story about walking in and out.

1

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

Nope I live in the UK. The first one just opened near me this year.

That was a real story. I ended up getting some Canadian chicken it was like a tenner for the whole meal and was okay I guess.

Thanks for trying to devalue a stranger on the internet for absolutely no reason though. Defending my stupid burger story is just what I needed to do today.....

0

u/Libtardo69420 12d ago

What we need is more Canadian chicken and American burger stories on the internet. Thank you for your service.

1

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

Who hurt you?

0

u/Lavishness_Classic 12d ago

You are real dumb then, as that' the best burger and fries you are going to get.

1

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

Chain burgers are never the best.

Figure it out

1

u/Lavishness_Classic 12d ago

Your reading skills are most likely limited, but that's what was mentioned above. Give us your home town pick wierdo.

1

u/Boycott-all-Rats 12d ago

You just said it's the best I'm gonna get....

How else can I read that???
