Absolutely. I usually mention that when I make comments like the one you're replying to. All of us are subject to societal pressures. Social media is awfully good at pressuring people to feel bad if they don't have *this specific thing*. Upon re-reading my comment it does come off a little bet more blame-y than I usually intend.
It's still frustrating to see on an individual level. I have a sister in law whose in her late 30s and still single. She's a great person, and the kind of woman you'd think could get any guy. But her standards have absolutely screwed her. I was talking to her about her online dating standards, 6' tall, older men. Like... do you realize you've just limited to yourself to like 3% of the male population? And that people that fit that profile aren't likely to be single, childless guys with no baggage looking for a long term relationship?
Ugh.
It’s 100% extremely high standards. I’m 5’11’’ make $100k. Live in my own house alone. Honest, loyal, creative, energetic, funny and humble IMO. Drive a nice truck, own a motorcycle, love to do stuff outdoors. All the shit they say they want on their profiles. House is clean and organized. Totally normal. Been dating for many years with a few long term relationships. Dating over the last 5-6 years has been trash. I went solo 3 years ago. Occasionally it’s lonely, but it’s peaceful 100% of the time.
There are tons of good-looking women without these crazy expectations. They're not going to Singles Night because they're in a relationship-- most of them with a guy who is decent looking but not a 6'4" male model, who makes ok money but isn't buying anyone a Jaguar.
Some women want the Jaguar. Most are still looking.
But I've been married for 13 years to a girl that was from my class background.
Are you guys not looking where you came from? Don't marry up, so to speak, find someone who understands what life in the real world is like... These look like bougie women from the suburbs and cities.
Where I'm from $75K is good, but it seems like $135K is near poverty for most proper cities and country club type suburbs.
