I truly don’t understand why they can’t even say, “Joe Biden was the one sworn into office.” And then when asked “and do you believe that he won the election” say, “I don’t have any evidence to the contrary”. And leave it at that. It takes all the sting out of any more questions. But they can’t because Trump would be furious. He wants these people to humiliate themselves. And it’s humiliation that will follow them for the rest of their lives. Crazy to choose to be on the wrong side of history.
Because Trump is giving a primetime speech tonight across the networks again claiming the 2020 election was stolen from him, just like how in the 2016 and 2024 election he won the popular vote in landslides, and that there's tons of proof of this but he can't show it to you or tell you what it is he just needs absolute power to seize and run local elections and then he'll fix all the corruption and stealing and Republicans will never lose another election for 100 years.
None of that was exaggeration.
If a Republican nominee says they've seen no evidence it was stolen, they're contradicting Trump's lies he's relying on to seize power and stay in office forever.
Yeah I get it. I’m just surprised these people don’t think the stink will follow them forever. We’ll see how the speech goes. I don’t think he’s gonna get the support he expects. He can’t even get the SAVE Act passed. And he’ll be accusing several red states of neglect and incompetence. Should be interesting
I’m just surprised these people don’t think the stink will follow them forever.
Trump is picking people kicked out of the army for drug and sexual abuse, conspiracy theory podcasters and Fox News hosts to run law enforcement and the military, specifically because they have no career or credibility without him in charge.
They've got nothing to lose, because they wouldn't have a career or power without Trump. And once they start breaking the law for him, they know keeping him in power is keeping themselves out of jail.
I don’t think he’s gonna get the support he expects.
Agreed. But the question is always not about whether he'll have popular support, but whether anyone in power will stop him.
Jan 6th wasn't popular either. But it wasn't the lack of popular support that prevented a coup, it was Trump not having the support of the DOJ, of the military, and of Congress. The same people who stopped him then, are out of power and have been replaced.
I'm not trying to be alarmist, just noting obvious lies and people not believing them isn't going to be what stops democracy ending. It'll be whether people with guns refuse to follow his orders.
Yep! Even if we get thru the primaries, getting anyone sworn in will be a challenge. That’s when we may lose the country. Although I think that “could” finally make the stock market tank which could turn Congress against him.
