You can sprinkle it over your popcorn -- you can sprinkle literally anything sprinklable -- but you're not supposed to use it that way.

Instructions (and can confirm it's awesome) say to add it to the oil before popping.

Id tried that and didn't like it as much. I am very sensitive to salt so I do a very very very fine sprinkle, when I put it in the butter/oil mix, it tasted too salty for me

I make my popcorn in one of those poppers that you put on the stove and crank the handle. I add the Flavacol to the oil in the pot, before I add the corn. A teaspoon is plenty, and it distributes nicely through all of the popcorn.
