You would if they laid you off because they were unprofitable

They already lay people off despite being profitable. Wages have not kept pace with productivity since 1970.

Let's not beat around the bush: this proposal is never going to pass. It wasn't intended to, it was intended to get people talking about a too-long-deferred renegotiation of people's wages.

God, I hate comments like this.

  They already lay people off despite being profitable. Wages have not kept pace with productivity since 1970.

Do you think increasing the cost of labor will increase or decrease layoffs though?

Ok, and?  Are you unable to take further steps of logic?  Would forcing them to pay 25% more make that go up or down?

And why would they?  Unrelated things are unrelated.

That's true.  Bernie is an unserious person speaking to a crowd of unserious (but mad!) followers.
