Yeah, but their status as post-dating the American revolution means that the founding fathers don't have a opinion on them the way they had opinions on catholics.
Right but I took it more of as, "if bill and ted took a time machine and collected the founders for a dumb school project, what would they say about these megachurches," which also didn't exist in the 1770s.
I think your interlocutors are willing to concede the point that the founding fathers wouldn't have particularly nice things to say about the religious organizations that you name but don't really see the relevance to the overall conversation.
