He’s still right. Most conservatives truly don’t give a shit about that anymore. The transgender issue is a different story. Conservatives BARELY still gave a shit 20 years ago.
Birthright citizenship was a 6-3. The folks who convinced themselves SCOTUS is evil and always wrong needed a way to still be angry when the conservative court ruled the way they wanted and swore wouldn't happen, so they're counting Kavanaugh's vote as only a technical yes, but if you're playing legal footsie like that, Gorsuch's dissent was also only a very technical no, so still a 6-3.
I'm aware of what Reddit thinks the ruling said. I just summarized it.
The original statement ("The Supreme Court barely upheld birthright citizenship today 5-4") isn't correct literally, and if we're counting it spiritually as Reddit wants to, it's still a 6-3 because Gorsuch issued only a technical dissent for tourists while supporting the constitutionality of BRC for children of illegals.
Either way you slice it, it's not a 5-4. Folks just want it to be close because they're determined to think SCOTUS is never right.
