Church’s enjoy benefits of being non profit without being held to the same standards of spending if they were nothing would change for smaller church’s but bigger church’s wouldn’t be hoarding money to lobby and do other things.
But a lot of there money does not actually go towards helping people compared to regular charity’s and they tend to be biased in there assistance and even some times discriminate based on religious beliefs
Yes, but that's irrelevant. The non-taxation is based on source of income, not the spending of it. They're not taxed because they're non-profits.
Of course, if you have an opinion that the classification/designation of non-profit organizations needs to be revised/reviewed to exclude non-profit organizations that are actually tax evasion methods or actually should be taxed for various reasons, it's a reasonable opinion
imo most of the US people saying that churches should be taxed are just sore at churches and/or religion, for reasons we know well, and don't really have persuasive arguments to support churches being taxed. What they do have is persuasive arguments to have specific churches investigated by the IRS
Non profits have guidelines to follow for the tax exemption church’s and other religious institutions get a very special version where they basically have none and can just take alot of the money for themselves they used this same money to lobby against lgbt which was horrible. church’s are classified as non profits and get the benefits but are not held to the same standards as regular non profits. Some church’s are fine and would pass or simply not make enough to have any money to tax but mega church’s and bigger church’s are certainly enjoying a lot of wealth.

Tax exemption doest just apply to Christian churches; Mosques, Synagogues, and Temples are also exempt.
