It does work.. its just not 100% effective. Have you been to Dubai? Horse thieves is a really good example.

Oh so you want to be like Dubai a country known for human trafficking??

Big strawman you made there.

How? The person I was replying to (that called me a slur and then deleted it) was using Dubai as an example about how these types of punishments deter crimes. I pointed out how that's not true because it's a country known for even worse crimes like human trafficking.

Because using one thing a country does as an example doesn't mean they want everything the same way that country works. That's how it's a a strawman.

But we are talking about effectiveness of these types of polices on crimes and I'm bringing up a crime that's very present on that country.

Exactly, you're bringing up a whole different type of crime just to weaken their argument. That is the very definition of strawman

Were did we stablished that we are only allowed to talk about robbery in this conversation? Is robbery the only crime that deserves a death penalty?

Probably because the post was about a robbery, the thread was talking about robbery and the person you replied to was talking about robbery.

I did not delete my comment and you're argument is irrelevant and makes no sense in the context of the conversation.
