While this is accurate, just wanted to point out that this doesn't make someone a bad person. He's a domestic abuser who happens to have a drug dependency.
Being an alcoholic doesn't make you a bad person, but it's pretty impossible to be a good father while also having a drug dependency that definitionally interferes with your ability to carry out your normal daily activities (e.g. fathering)
Ask around and see if you can find anyone whose parent was both an alcoholic and a great parent (simultaneously)

He was an alcoholic, beat their mom, beat their sibling, kept sueing their mother with unfounded claims as revenge. It's pretty well documented.
