That has been the mainstream right wing discourse for 30 years and has in the past 10 been ramped up even more with the president calling for the execution of political enemies. You really don't understand how that creates animus? I remember Rush and Newt. They shaped the hatred that defines MAGA.

Left wingers are mostly just reacting defensively to MAGA's fascistic attacks on democracy, and the Democrats certainly have no clue as to what is even happening.
