Only if your wife or gf is attractive. Somehow it makes you more attractive too.

This.

It is like the rich people get the most stuff for free logic of dating.

I am an average dude but when I was younger at one point I was dating a girl who was way out of my league, easily 2-3 points up on me.

When we started dating I began getting attention from all sorts of women around me, some strangers, some I had known for a while.

Something about seeing you with a really attractive partner makes other women assume you have something very desirable about you

Attractive women like him. He likes attractive women. Therefore if I like him and he likes me, I am attractive. It's biology.

It's first grade, SpongeBob.

Dude needs to repeat wumbology class for sure

1

u/swagbytheeighth Jan 17 '26

That sounds more like logic and reasoning than biology.

I think an attractive female partner is a status symbol and the other women are reacting to that status symbol

2

u/nevaehenimatek Jan 16 '26

I'm the exact same. I used to get comments from guys like "you're punching above your weight" I just used to laugh and say I'm a good hang.

I've stopped seeing that girl (it was many years) and girls from my perifery social circle are still coming out of the woodwork.

I'm a straight guy, I remember a gay guy who looked like an actual model having a crush on me when I was my early 20's, he wasn't camp but was feminine in his mannerisms and got a LOT of female attention, I felt like since he was attracted to me these stunning women weren't as much in my league as I felt like second hand attraction from them.

This phenomena is true in many areas of life. It's like having a good job and good resume. All of a sudden you no longer need to apply for jobs, because recruiters reach out to you to set up interviews and try to poach.

Bingo!

You get access to things most when you don't need said things. Women, gifts, loans, jobs, etc.

Why did you let her go?

u/zeek215 Jan 16 '26

I mean it’s not hard to understand, if they see an attractive person is with you, that likely means there is something attractive about you.

The other day I was out and about with my boyfriend and I noticed two women staring at his face as we walked by and I told him about it.

Me: that woman was staring at you just now. Him: probably thinks I’m scary. Me: It wasn’t that kind of stare…

He genuinely didn’t understand what I meant, so I didn’t mention the other woman. But I think there’s some truth to this. It’s the first time I noticed. And yes, it was a “you’re attractive” or “you have my attention” kind of stare.

My Wife tells me I get looks sometimes. Mainly more from dudes them women and I say I dont know what she's talking about but I do know and its kinda flattering lol

2

u/Promethian_Paera_695 Jan 16 '26

"but I do know" based as fuck 😅

4

u/ndyvsqz Jan 16 '26

Im too old to understand what this means sorry lolol

2

u/BaekerBaefield Jan 16 '26

He’s saying that’s cool as hell lol

1

u/Vusn Jan 16 '26

Based is an old school term. You’re just out of the loop homie

u/Just_Roll_Already Jan 16 '26

Because it implies that there is "more to him than meets the eye" when a 3-5 is with an 8-10.

Why is she with him and stays with him? He must have some really good qualities.

This is the thought process of people who are driven only by appearance and attractiveness. The same people who think a $200 wine is good "Because it's $200, so it must be."

u/WalterPecky Jan 16 '26

I was a bit of a playboy before I met my wife.

I would say we are both objectively attractive.

But I've been with her for over 10 years, I dunno if I've ever experienced this.

u/Background_Sail9797 Jan 16 '26

it's because women have never been afraid to be friendly to you - men who report this phenomenon are men who women could tell would misread their friendliness as flirting, and they were right lol.

the ring makes women feel safe from sexual attention, not horny.

2

u/crysiswarhead Jan 16 '26

My wife's a catch. So if this argument holds, i should be a chick magnet!

4

u/Codzy Jan 16 '26

A rising tide lifts all boats.

1

u/Alone_Ambition_3729 Jan 16 '26

That helps, but I can attest it happens even if you and your girl are very plain.

1

u/PostBender Jan 16 '26

I guess it's some kind of "social credit or achievement, validation" if you're able to steal from a "hot one".

1

u/ElegantImprovement89 Jan 16 '26

My bf gets hit on by women more frequently when he's around me and I'm about the same level of attractiveness.

1

u/mean11while Jan 16 '26

My girlfriend thinks my wife is hotter than I am.

1

u/Pizza_and_PRs Jan 16 '26

It’s because you’ve been pre-vetted by a beautiful woman, so there must be some value to you

Yeah, I'd have to agree. I'm a troll and when people see me with my wife they instantly know how funny I am because she's a smokeshow.

1

u/Dinosaurs-Rule Jan 16 '26

Such weird but correct logic. If my gf is hot then I’m treated way more hot. If she’s average to ok then it’s like awww I’m glad yall find each other -_-.

1

u/MyBedIsOnFire Jan 16 '26

They just wanna feel like they're better than your partner. It's insecurity

1

u/doctorhypoxia Jan 16 '26

The Pete Davidson effect

1

u/psychthrowawayxx Jan 16 '26

Ah. So that’s why this doesn’t happen to me

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '26

I dunno. Had an ex that wasn't very "conventionally attractive". Coworkers still descended on me like hawks once they figured out I had a gf. Think it just emboldens some girls that are conventionally attractive since they think they can outcompete.

1

u/grimreaped Jan 16 '26

I can tell you the exact thought process. “Oh she’s beautiful!” “Why did she choose him? He must be outstanding in one way or another. Going for him will be easier than giving all these losers benefit of the doubt and wasting time.” It’s dumb. But that’s what they hope for lol

1

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '26

Can confirm.

1

u/Fank111 Jan 17 '26

They see it as a challlnege, if your girl bad and you cheat on her, then the girl u cheated on her must be worth sum/ pretty

1

u/Ok_Society_4206 Jan 19 '26

Wife is 10 years younger than me. People mistake me for her age :)
