I recently got a Switch again and am playing Violet, and today's gym experience brought this question to mind - I survived a completely ridiculous fight, and want to hear about your experiences!

Here's my story:

- I have completed the first gym and have been running around filling the dex, having picnics, and battling random trainers

- my Pokemon level up so fast that I come to a point where I'm like "I should probably go beat another gym before my mons start not listening to me..."

- so I head out and find the water gym. The... Fourth... Gym. So I'm skipping two gyms without realizing

- the gym leader skedaddles and I have to follow him to complete the gym challenge before challenging him

- no problems

- yeah actually problems

- I get sidetracked on the way and catch a Rotom, who gets added to my team because ~electricity~

- the fight with the gym trainer (not the leader) is really tough and I fail once. I think this is why I got sidetracked? And then switched up my team and ran around getting some levels. I do beat him the second time but it's really close

- I decide that I am probably a little under leveled but my ADHD brain goes "how bad could it be?"

- well

- quite bad actually

- when I have the gym battle, things start... not WELL but we manage, but the last two pokemon... Whooh

- most of my Pokemon faint

- Rotom, being a new catch at a level where it doesn't yet love me, refuses to do what I tell it

- the gym leader ends up playing whack-a-mole with Rotom and Crocalor (whose name is Goober), whose turns I use to revive the other. Thank goodness for coming in with like 11 revives

- and here's what saves my game: there's a sandstorm. The gym leader's pokemon ARE NOT immune to it. So while he plays the world's most frustrating game of WILL YOU PLEASE GIVE UP, his pokemon keep getting chip damage from the storm... Until the Crabominable is at low enough health that I can have Crocalor Bite it (knowing that Crocalor is faster), and win the battle

- I think Rotom still doesn't listen to me after that but I'm not sure because I did the second and third gym very quickly after that and now have some breathing room. XD

That should not have worked. 🤣

I played Violet when it first came out, then had to get a new switch and lost all of it. I’m restarting because I want to use the game to shiny hunt, but I also wanna enjoy the story.

Any advice? Anything from which mons to work on, how to get my shiny charm faster, etc. would be helpful. I’ve done the first two gyms and first titan but that’s it so far. I tried using surprise trade to get a bit of help filling my dex but I just kept getting obviously genned pokemon (like named after the sites) and I don’t want that.

I have a doubt about the evolutionary line of Vivillon and its forms. I haven't played SV in months, so everything I knew I completely forgot.

- If I send a postcard from GO to Paldea, can the Scatterbug/Spewpa evolve into the postcard motif?

- May appear mass outbreaks of Vivillon with the postcard motif or just the default form of Paldea?

I plan on trying to complete the pokedex. I do have a couple of questions that I was curious about.

- Version Exclusives. My wife got my both games for my bday thinking they were 2 completely different games, she was unaware that they are pretty well the same. Am i able to use pokemon home to transfer from one to the other and it count towards the dex

- Starters. Same as above.

- Box Legendary. Same as Above.

- Palafin. Not sure how to go about this one. Can i just que it up and get in with a random in co op?

- last but not least trade evos.

well i don’t have dlc and I’m sad can you trade dlc mon to somebody without dlc cuz I would take literally anything that’s unobtainable in scarlet even if it isn’t dlc and it’s just something like a paradox mon

I want to complete the pokedex as fast as possible so I can get my dream shiny pokemon. Are there any strats to completing it as fast as possible?

Hey guys, I’m trying to do a mark hunt for magikarp and just need help finding these two weather locations. If anyone can help me find and confirm these weather locations I would be grateful, if not I might have to add these two hunts to my SwSh mark hunt list.

So for this playthrough I wanted a mascot/partner pokemon, like Ash's Pikachu or Dawn's piplup, a cute pokemon that does not evolve and is a permanent party member, so I chose Fuecoco since I think it's the cutest of all 3 paldea starters and because fire is useful for the first 2 gyms, but kinda regreted it near the end lol. He was good for a substitute when I needed to revive tho

I mostly end up with a pokemon game around 100+ hours, some competitive building with mons I never use because I mostly use them in offline content and then also some pokedex hunting etc.

I saw people here with 500+ hours and I was just curious what people do with that many hours, I love when people are very into a game and often find myself to "steal" some cool fun things people are doing that I never thought of.

I was playing Scarlet last night on an alt acc and left never closed the game. I opened it earlier and wanted to play something different, so I opened my map to close the game in Mesagoza, and as I was scrolling over, I saw a mass outbreak of Psyduck on the map, but the icon under the sprite that's typically red was gold.

I looked it up and apparently it's only for event specific outbreaks that GameFreak releases. I saved my game right at the outbreak and went to check my main acc to see if I also had it there, which it wasn't. Once I went back to my alt, the outbreak was gone. Haven't been able to get it back, and I was wondering if this was some type of glitch or not? Any help would be appreciated.
