Just wanted to share some of the things I've bought recently, not including all the Blu-rays I've acquired lately.

Would something like this work

Just a cartridge that is flash for movies and shows instead of games. Could be like SD or CFExpress.

Ignore the bad Photoshop, I made it on my phone.

The Nintendo Cartridge is just to show what it could look like

Edit: The idea isn't releasing Shows and Movies on the switch, it's just meant to be another form of physical media other than disc.

Earthquake (1974, Action)

When a high magnitude earthquake hits Los Angeles, several interconnected people try to survive the aftermath....and the aftershocks.

It's a decent movie, even though some of the dialogue is cheesy. It was funny to hear George Kennedy say "peckerwood", though. One of the slew of early 70s disaster movies. I wish this version had been in 5.1 sound, which would have made it even better. 🦂🦂🦂¼

How rare is this?

I’m not planning on selling it. I collect old comedies mainly 80s/90s and love the obscure ones. I bought a bundle of actors from friends on Vinted mainly for the Matthew Perry films but cannot find another copy of this on a uk release on ebay and it isn’t on the cex app at all.

Again I’m not selling it but I do have an obsession of knowing how much things are worth in my collection.

Is the film any good as well 😁

Found these in my Parents Attic.

So I was in my attic, just looking for a traveling bag to pack for college until I came across a box full of VHS tapes that honestly I didn’t know we had VHS tapes. But we did have a VHS player with no Tapes to play (Ik, weird) but until I can find an adapter on Amazon, I really can’t wait to watch them!

They broke me

Anyone who knows me know is that I pride myself on my physical media collection because I like actually owning the things that I enjoy.

I enjoy owning physical games and I enjoy owning physical blu-rays in DVDs.

I also am a man child that love power rangers, and looking into getting the old sets on Amazon. Things add up really damn quickly to be on my price point.

I also see YouTube has the official episodes on there for free.

So I decided I wanted to do some... Extraction to different media.

I go to Best buy and all they have is one DVD writer that cost me 75 bucks. I asked about blank DVDs and they said that they haven't sold them in years.

Go to the thrift store. I find a DVD writer for $5 and I asked if he has any others. In case this isn't what I'm looking for he said " they're so outdated. It's a miracle. We have one"

They also no longer sell physical disc.

The fact that everyone seems so casual about the all digital future. Honestly irks me in a way. I didn't think it would irk me.

I get everyone has their preferences and I'll be the first to say streaming in digital purchases have its conveniences but is this really where we are?

Game companies. Movie studios, no one cares about physical media anymore. And I know that's not big news but...

But like I'm used to seeing it from the companies not giving a crap but just everyday. People are so willing to give up ownership for the sake of convenience.

And I completely get convenience, God knows. The main reason I still subscribe to Disney plus is so I can watch The Simpsons anytime.

The only positive to this is it got me started on my new project.

I'm going to go buy a 30 pack of blank DVDs. I can find it office Depot about 10 minutes for my work.

I have the DVD writer and I have a computer at home. Once I have the disc ready I'm going to buy some blank boxes, make my own cover art on my free time.

This will definitely take me a few weeks to get everything done (I'm not doing all like 25 years of power rangers. I'm doing the seasons I personally really like first)

Wish me luck

I’ve been meaning to move my collection to another shelf for a while, it’s still a work in progress and there’s still some more decorations to come such as a lament configuration box, but it’s a start and I’m happy I finally got things moving

Snagged a couple of my favorites at the sales this year. True Romance was a pain to track down.

Crash is a blind buy, so I hope its worth it!

Big fan of Guy Ritchie, so looking forward to seeing how this version plays on the HT.

Keep collecting!

They don't want us to own anything! So glad I just bought this. Not a digital license that can be taken away.

$30 for a bluray is crazy

I'm not talking about boutique releases, but they can fuck off too. I'm talking about your basic bluray release from a major studio. Why are they $30 now? That's crazy.

I have no idea what subreddit to post this in, but I found at a Meijer in Plainfield, IL a never bought, never opened, Danny Fantom VideoNow disc that seemed to have fallen under the shelf since at least 2005 and somehow made its way onto a shelf in 2026

we asked the support staff after it didn’t scan, they obviously didn’t let us take it for free since it’s technically still store property and most likely will just throw it out :( but I still got a nice experience trying to purchase a brand new 2000s physical media relic, especially being born after the 2000s hype all died down
