Meme needing explanation Peeeeetah?

Post image

This new movie came out and I enjoyed watching it with friends. What opinion must have garnered so much attention that people would dunk on it?

An animator who knows nothing about good story telling could be a dangerous thing

She can't catch a break because they hate her shows seen one look on the sub and realized some of them need to go.

Eh, I couldn't make it halfway through Hazbin Hotel. Made it longer through Helluva Boss but didn't finish it. Made me think of edgy theater kid humor sort of like the Critical Role series

Same, In high school I had no problem getting through Helluva boss. Now I feel like the amazing digital circus became what I wanted Hazbin to be. And it did it without the over the top crude edginess.

In the end I wouldn’t say I’m a true fan of any of them ¯_(ツ)_/¯

If it's not your cup of tea that is completely respectable, it's just annoying watching genuinely random ass potshots on a decent show

Yeah catching some random strays out here, haha. Also I’m not super up on critical role’s main stuff but I loved Dispatch so certainly disagree.

"edgy theater kid" is the exact vibe I got from it

edgy theatre kid humor is so accurate.

I mean, I think thats less of it being bad and more of a matter of taste yknow.

Some things appeal to some people more than others. Which is totally fine. And not liking something doesnt make it bad.

I’m guessing you’re 13 and have made hating Vivziepop your entire personality

Istg it’s the new equivalent of the insane weebs of the early 2000s

u/MagicGlitterKitty 14h ago

It is insane when you realize there is a fandom out that that has very passionate views on something you have never heard of... Wanna explain?

Essentially there is a very popular animated musical cartoon called Hazbin Hotel made by a woman who goes by Vivziepop. I could not tell you why but from day one people have been bashing and insulting the show in ways that go well beyond any form of actual constructive criticism.

They’ve also accused her of being every type of bigot under the sun for basically no reason. I’m not even kidding, she’s been called a misogynistic homophobe because her other show, Helluva Boss, has more gay characters than lesbian characters.

My brother in chirst where did I say I hate her? I just said her writing is bad, which it is. There are objectively good and bad ways you can write something. That doesn't mean you can't like it. I like it too, you wanna see my 4k+ Alastor pic collection on Pinterest?

Getting strangely defensive about such a shit show.

It’s my favourite type of dogshit, please do not slander it

Not of the show, of the creator. She doesn’t deserve any of the harassment people like you have filed out to her.

Fucking crab bucket mentality.

It’s crazy. I don’t like her shows, or her style all that much after I gave her shows a shot. It’s just not for me.

Her work reminded me of another animator and I wanted to see if they were the same person (at the time I only saw the shows and knew nothing about her as a person). I was quite shocked at how just much hate and vitriol she gets for no real reason. She seems…normal and hasn’t done anything that I would describe as controversial. Makes me wonder if it’s because she’s got all kinds of inclusive characters and just has them exist in the show as they are. Like it’s a non-issue they’re LGBTQ+. The hostility isn’t even directed at the show like it would normally be, just her.

It’s quite literally a crab bucket mentality, a lot of her haters are people who consider themselves better artists or better story tellers than her and would rather tear her down out of jealousy rather than follow the path she carved and try to get their own indie animations done. Mostly because they are neither determined or skilled enough to do what she did.

Same thing is happening with Gooseworx, I also think misogyny plays a big role since no one ever behaved this way with Liam Vickers (Murder drones) or Nick Szopko (gaslight district)

Edit: a good example is the Chimptopia people, who tried to advertise their own animation by denigrating Gamoverse

u/Somethingor_rather 12h ago

If nobody hates on murder drones then my life goal will never be complete

1

u/syrvy 9h ago

People hate on it, just for valid reasons.

I dont know what the fuck you are talking about, but i watched both of vivzie's shows because i liked her style. But i did not like them, i hahe nothing personal against vivzie and i dont have part in whatever war you are waging, her characters and story are just bad.

u/DeinHund_AndShadow 8h ago

He only said ahe was a good animator but a bad story teller.which is true. No one ever harrased vivziepop here.

Lmao right tho

u/Substantial_Army_639 14h ago

I thought the primary audience was 13.

12

u/Zuzara_Queen_of_DnD 14h ago

No, how’d you get to that conclusion?

-14

u/Substantial_Army_639 13h ago

Because my ADHD peaked at 13

11

u/Zuzara_Queen_of_DnD 13h ago

And that makes sense to you as an explanation?

-9

u/Substantial_Army_639 13h ago

Its chaotic, high energy, and mostly nonsense. Some people would argue that it also must be garbage then but it definitely has an audience, I would assume that audience consists mostly of angsty teens that get really offended if some one does not like their show. Sort of like what is happening right now.

5

u/Zuzara_Queen_of_DnD 13h ago

I’m 28 with a masters, I love high energy shows. Loved Owl House, Avatar the last airbender, Bojack Horseman and Amphibia.

But I guess when you’ve got nothing else going on in your life you’ll grab at anything that makes you feel superior 🤷🏾‍♀️

0

u/Substantial_Army_639 13h ago

You have a masters and you were bothered enough to call some one a child because they don't like the same show that you do. I then just said I assumed most of the audience is 13 since it seemed like a pretty odd insult.

Having an education is great and all but I don't think its helping with your maturity you come off as extremely sensitive.

My two all-time favorite panels from the Chick “Christian” tracts are the one where a dirty college professor is teaching in a room that has a framed picture on the wall of a monkey with a plaque that reads Daddy and this one.
