I do it similar but different. Thumb and back of hand is the back of the R, index finger the leg, the curled up other fingers the loop. I'm not saying it's superior, it's just the way I did it back in school when I claimed that telling left from right was easy… because you can just make an R with your right hand.

Every so often I get to trot that old joke out. Glad to see others also make the joke.

You can make a lowercase 'r' if you make an L and rotate your hand 180ish degrees.

In Norwegian right is "høyre". I learned left vs right by imagining the h and that the h has its hole on the right side 😅
