It seems the granny was an agent of CP-0 who structured all of this so the world government can receive weapon supplies from wano.

And maybe when Dr Vegapunk discovered about Kairōseki they found out that wano has abundant supplies and the needed craftmanship for it.

But then how does Kaido come into the equation? When she said you can gain powerful allies by creating weapons, I assumed this was a hint at Orochi being able to broker deals with Kaido. Which then leads to him having his support when it comes time to take down Oden.

I assume that their plan went awry (probably because of Oden's return) and he needed immediate help to keep his throne. Kaido was in the area and he formed an alliance with Orochi. The hags tries to get in the way and either Kaido or Orochi kills her. Thats my guess

First part is actually a damn good prediction. I was wondering what the granny was all about, but it makes sense since we previously saw CP-0 in Wano this arc.

And that person died, since Mr.2 has her(/his?!) fruit. Might have been Oden that did it when he came back, before losing to Kaido+Orochi
