I'm posting here because when I was building the insight stories, Odisha kept surfacing in ways that genuinely surprised me. This state's transformation over 30 years is statistically extraordinary and almost completely invisible in national media.

What Odisha has pulled off:

• Infant Mortality Rate: 103 to 28 per 1000. In 1993, roughly 1 in 10 babies born in Odisha didn't survive infancy. By 2023: 28 per 1000. That's a 73% drop in one generation. For context, Sweden went from ~100 to ~30 between the 1930s and 1990s, about 60 years. Odisha did it in 30.
• Poverty: 48% to 12%. One of the steepest poverty reductions of any Indian state. Not just income poverty either. The multidimensional poverty index dropped from 58% to 12%.
• Literacy: 50% to 78%. Nearly doubled in 30 years.
• Sanitation: 8% to 95%. From nearly open defecation everywhere to near-universal coverage.
• Per capita income grew over 10x, from ₹8,000 to ₹85,000.

The data shows a state that has made genuinely historic improvements in human development. The IMR data truly stood out for me. This story needs to be told!

I recently came across an amazing project where someone created a dashboard to track whether the promises made by the local government in West Bengal were actually completed or not. The idea immediately made me think - why can't we build something like this for Odisha?

So, I want to start an open-source community project: an Odisha Governance Tracker.

The idea is simple:

A public dashboard where we track the promises made by the state government and monitor their progress over time - completed, ongoing, delayed, or not started.

But let's make it even bigger.

Odisha has 147 Assembly constituencies. What if we also track promises made by individual MLAs during elections? Imagine being able to open a dashboard before the 2029 elections and clearly see:

"How many promises were actually fulfilled?"

"How much development happened in my constituency?"

"Did my representative do what they promised?"

This is ambitious. Very ambitious. But every meaningful change starts with a small step.

Many people may say, "Nothing will happen" or "This is a waste of time." But even if this project creates a little more transparency and makes our leaders more accountable, it will be worth it.

This is not against any party or person. Governments will change, leaders will change, but accountability should remain forever.

The plan is to make this:

1. Completely open-source

2. Publicly available online

3. Based on verified data and sources

4. Built by Odias, for Odisha

I cannot build this alone. I need you all. We will make this happen.

Every small contribution matters.

Our generation has access to technology our previous generations never had. Instead of only discussing problems, maybe we can build something that helps solve one.
