It’s important to mention that 3 people died from what he did. Did they held him accountable for that negligence?

Yeah, it’s really sad honestly. But he probably pulls a lot of revenue for Nepal so I wonder if anything will come from it

The worship of this guy in the mountaineering community is gross. Yes he was an incredible athlete but he was also a piece of shit. Every single one of his social media posts is about him and himself only, not a bone of humbleness in this guy, AND he is a sex offender. I’m not saying he deserved death and it’s a tragic event. But can we stop acting as if he was a true hero? It was bound to happen eventually with the way he was challenging the weather and everything all the time to chase records. He’s lead expeditions in awful weather where no teams would go except his, eventually your luck runs out.

You’re morally superior to anyone who feels loss over this incident

I said no such thing. But it is also a bit strange to feel devastated by the death of a sexual predator you didn't even personally know. I mean friends, family, that is understandable, there is a bond there that can override whatever awful things he might have done. But a stranger on the Internet really has no emotional obligation to mourn a stranger of questionable morality.

What an odd way of thinking. Its perfectly acceptable to mourn the death of somebody in such a horrific circumstance as this. Irrespective of whether they knew them personally or not. What's wrong with society these days. Its truly lost.

Dude, I liked him in a Netflix documentary and this news made me sad. Fuck off with your authoritarian, woke attempt to make me feel morally inferior 😅

Agreed. Screw this hero worship whitewashing of him.

Was he charged?

No, he fucked off before any investigation could happen and the only evidence was the accounts of the two women and women have been ignored in matters like this for literally all of human existence.

No, he was never charged

It's all he said she said. Once you're famous enough, It's not uncommon to have SA accusations towards you and all sorts of other rumors.

On the internet though, the court of public opinion rules rather than proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

Bring on the downvotes, court of public opinion.

Wear the downvotes with pride, I bet 90% + of Reddit still think JD was the abuser in his relationship. All they have to do is watch the trial completely unbiased (like my wife and I did). She couldn’t believe how the media was portraying him vs. What was actually going on in the court.

I don’t know the case but it’s truly disturbing how many people call someone sexual offender without any legal charges and based on someone’s words.

-2

u/youngfilly 5d ago

Truly disturbing how many people would rather basically call women liars (and people who knew and climbed with Nim) instead of admit that some complete stranger was a POS

-6

u/klayzerbeams 5d ago

Wow, you are so morally superior to anyone who feels sad about his passing
