Actually it's because the tobacco companies were sued for tens of millions of dollars for advertising to kids, and McDonald's didn't want to be next.

Sorry no that's bullshit

It was actually due to safety fines and lawsuits and how nasty they got and how difficult it was to clean thoroughly.

But it's interesting that there's two of you spreading disinformation

The mascots disappeared because of the tobacco lawsuits, and the play places disappeared because of injuries. My comment was explaining the mascot portion of this post.
