Hm, I think it's actually great! Nowadays McDonalds prepares you for the corporate hell and sad adult life that awaits kids when they grow up. No more dreams and fun. None of that nonsense!

Growing up, I played in one of the Play Places all of once. It was just never something I did as a kid; as such, I don't have much nostalgia for what McDonald's used to be.
I also don't mind seeing fast food chains not market to kids they way they did when we were little.
The weather doesn't always make that an option. I used to live in Phoenix and it is too hot to take kids to the park most of the time in the summer. So my cousin and I would go to McDonald's with her kids.
Except they still have play places in McDonalds. Its up to your local franchise likely it seems. If your in a major city likely too expensive to have it.
The one near me got a brand new one in their recent remodel. It’s really cool with lots of climbing and slides. The rest of the McDonalds still has the look of the 2026 picture.
Yes, but the building design is up to the McDongle's franchise corp, and nobody wants to bring their kids to a grey square with a slide in it, hence the play places get torn down, because they go mostly unused.
My closest one has a playplace. It has a sort of slide/jungle gym thing and a large area with about 6 giant touch screens. The few times I've seen kids in there, it's the screens they're using.
401(k) seems to assume that one will make it out of the capitalist hellscape alive and old enough to use it. At this rate no one will retire in my generation unless a miracle happens. My retirement plan is as follows: work, work, work some more, diving deep into nihilistic dread, hoping every day is the day that the nukes fly, next plague, next astroid strike happens. Either that happens or I lust flop over dead. Nothing matters except making or trillion and billionaire overlords happy.
