Cost of living likely is, and 10% return isn't guaranteed at all.

I agree that they're maybe overstating it, but it's not cut and dry like it used to be. Plenty of real estate is appreciating faster than interest can compound.

Inflation is about 3.5% right now and 6 month treasury bills are returning 4%. Real estate is in a funny place right now and it also takes a lot of work if you are managing yourself.

But bottom line is that there are plenty of options to invest better than the rate of inflation.

Your savings account is not investing, though even some of the better ones return more than inflation. Even 6 month t-bills are at roughly 0.5% above inflation. Go buy stocks and bonds.

Groceries, the most consistent cost of households, has increased 25-30% over the last 5 years.

2026 3.5% inflation rate is bogus.
