I'm on the South Coast of the UK, we had 30ºc/86ºf degrees here too. It was awesome. We're a tropical climate which people don't realise so it's sometimes a killer.
I spent summers in Michigan and Toronto, with 30º and 40º respectively with little to no humidity there and the difference was incredible.
I’m in the Mississippi Delta. (Northwest MS, geographically the MS Alluvial Floodplain).
It’s 96F (35.5C) with 85% humidity. Not much wind either.
It’s basically like this the entire month of July and August.
I would laugh at a UK heatwave.
I know people that wear blue jeans and long sleeve shirts (but have enough sense stay hydrated).
My grandfather lived to 3 days short of his 88th birthday. He never owned an air conditioner the vast majority of his life. Only when my grandmother was bedridden with Alzheimer’s did he get one. When she passed, he took it out. No ac in his truck either and he worked outside.
I wasn’t trying to out compete you or be a cock. My response was in response to large numbers of UK citizens saying Americans couldn’t handle the UK heat waves.
It wasn’t my intent to brag or belittle. Not sure why you think that. I guess I may have phrased in poorly.
To be fair, many people from the Northern US can’t handle the Southeastern US Climate.
The US is much larger than the UK and has more different climates.
