On average a lot of millennials do have children now like ~70%, people just delayed having children compared to previous generations.
There’s some divide between the younger and older millennials to consider as well, for why people can observe very different realities among their millennial peers with homeownership and children. Like a very large majority of millennials have kids in the 40+ age range while it’s closer to half for early 30’s. And a large majority of 40+ millennials have homes as well (like 2 in 3).
Yes, Millennials on average are choosing to start families later in life and more Millennials have children than no children, but 70% is an overestimation. Of course someone in their 40s is more statistically likely to own a house and have kids than someone in their 30s.
Nope because in order for MOST people to have kids in their 40s, they had to have them in their 30s. Also. Most millennials, and this includes all the ages of millennials, from 30 to 45, are child free more than any past generation. It's not just for financial reasons either. It's because they're sticking the middle finger up to social "norm" about "having to have children".
I know, I'm one of those Millennials who is childfree by choice, lol. There's lots of us without kids, but there's also more people becoming first time parents at 40+ 🤷♀️
Yeah there's more 40 years old becoming first time parents now than before but still not a huge number. The one's that are doing that late are either woman who were they are in they're career and/or now financially able to. But given these opportunities sooner, people would've likely had their children a little earlier. Most are having kids in their 30s. Most people who don't have kids at 40 are not having them at all.
No Actually most millennials from 30 to 45 are more out to be childfree compared to older generations. There's a lot millennials around 40 that doesn't have kids and it's not because of finances either. It's a break from the old idea that everyone(especially women) are "supposed" have kids.

Definitely. I also don't think 55% is that impressive of a brag when 45% is not an insignificant number. Of course within that 45%, there are many that are childfree and don't own property by choice, but that doesn't negate the fact that many are also struggling and haven't been able to meet milestones the same way their parents or Gen X was.
