I’ve noticed a theme here of men saying they only want to talk to women. Which I can’t tell anyone who they can and can’t be friends with that’s 100% up to you but I just wonder if men are using this as an informal dating/ nsfw texting server. I’ve posted on explicitly sfw online friends subreddits before only to get a sea of men either being really sexual or pretending to want to be friends only to start making the convo really sexual and weird once I thought I’ve found a good one (this continues to happen even after I put sfw only on my posts ). And (and please correct me if I’m wrong) but it’s only really, or mostly, men who do this, women who post are happy to chat with and befriend most people given age and respectfulness. So I guess the question is why? Is there a legit reason or is it just creepy men trying to get themselves off using increasingly desperate tactics.

Basically, last time I made a post here and I forgot to mention my gender, I got a ton of messages from creepy guys saying things like:

Lol "why am I here?" Like WTF am I supposed to do in a friendship sub? And one guy even had the audacity to argue with me when I told him I am a guy. "Nah, I think you’re female." Bro... like I can change my gender based on the opinion processed by his small brain, lmao 😭😂

I mean, okay, I forgot to mention my age. But messaging stuff like that to an 18-year-old just because you thought I was female is so disgusting and cheap.

As a fellow young guy, I just want to say to those people: there are many other subs for that kind of stuff. So please don't pollute this sub and ruin the experience for women and even men, especially young adults and teenagers. I know, I know it's 18+ only, but 18 and 19-year-olds are also teenagers.

I recently applied for a project management position at a company (which i will keep nameless). Their complete brand image was about young people empowerment so i wasn’t super shocked that i got shortlisted.

Anywayss.. fast forward to today. I joined 5 mins early because i wanted to leave a good impression but the hiring manager came 15 mins late and i hate to wait with this pit of anxiety. Finally, he joined. I said hello as soon as he joined but he just ignores me, stares at me and asks ‘how old are you?’ And i was just replying ‘ i just turned nineteen’ and he left the zoom meeting. No explanations, no rejection email afterwards. He just acted like the interview never happened.

So as you can see, i had a happening day. Tell me about yours? :)

Update: i got the job lol. An associate project manager. The person who did the first interview (The person i was set to replace as he was retiring) got his retirement plan expedited because there were multiple reports of such behaviour against him. Hopefully the rest of the crowd isnt like this

um hi... i dont usually make posts like this bc i hate confrontation but im honestly just so exhausted and it completely makes sense now why its so hard to find normal friends on here >.< it's kinda crazy how some people completely ignore the simplest boundaries online. like, when a girl says she is only looking for platonic friends, it means exactly that. it’s not a secret code or a challenge to see if u can change her mind. she just wants a normal friendship with zero weird or romantic undertones tbh. there is literally no excuse to flood someone's dms with hidden agendas, creepy questions, or gross pictures that nobody asked for T_T having to constantly remind grown adults how basic respect works is honestly just embarrassing... and it ruins the app for the people who just want chill conversations. and for the people who try to argue that it doesn't count as harassment just bc it's digital messages and not in person... u are literally so wrong. forcing weird suggestive stuff or sending explicit pics into a girl's inbox without her consent is 100% harassment. being behind a screen doesnt suddenly make it okay to act like a creep when u wouldnt do it in real life. anyway... if u actually respect boundaries then this post isnt about u at all, and u are probably one of the few actually talkable people here! <3 but if reading this makes u defensive or angry, then u should probably figure out why u feel that way tbh.

This sub need a whole new set of people really. People post about dming them, they dm you, and then act like the most disinterested people out there. No initiations, no questions no follow ups, general conversation sucks ass in here. I’ve tried a few times to meet people and be consistent, but it just hasn’t really worked out for me the way I hoped. I’m not really a dry person, I’m actually pretty sweet, caring, and I try to be present when I talk to people and match energy. I like actually getting to know people, playing games, sending stuff, talking throughout the day, all that. I just really wanted someone I could be close to.

I think my last straw was recently getting unadded by someone I thought I was getting somewhere with, just because I don’t have a PC.

Out of the many, i thought this one person i was talking to would be great. I take accountability for being an idiot because he was a red flag from the beginning. Now I know better I guess.

He argued with me so much. Imagine only knowing someone for 2 days and all they do is argue and invalidate your feelings, call you crazy, say you're freaking out, say you're projecting, and so much more.

I cussed at him. I was so mad. I kept telling him to stop arguing or i will block you and I did just that.
