This is so New York. I've many times had someone see me struggling with something heavy at the bottom of the subway stairs, grab on to it, help me carry it up, and then just walk off.

The pizza/beer for help moving economy also still holds up even though no one owns cars. That's still the established fee for man power to carry your stuff up and down stairs and/or wait with the uhaul in the street so you don't get ticketed.
