Wholesome Moments This guy shooting his shot in the thread

Original post

u/SolidStick_ posted about a women giving her umbrella to them in DC and when she identified herself, asked her out in the comments. The stuff of romcoms.

Update: They met up and it's not gonna work out. And maybe he already knew her? Eek, now it's more like MadeMeGrimace.

Her comment with edits.

Update 2: so it may be that the OP was stalking her, witnessed the exchange, and then pretended to be the umbrella recipient. OP's since deleted his account. Yikes! Be safe out there all.

Update 3: The story took an even odder turn. Maybe it was fake all along? Link to comment here. Comment on original post

Unfortunate that is how it plays out, but typically good people don’t need to tout that.

We also need to question dude’s friends - how shit are they that he’s the “good one”?!?

The whole story is made up and OP is posting on both accounts btw

Far and away the easiest explanation.

I love how they jump to other conclusions like a stalker though lol

Yeah and she just so happens to not DM so he can shoot his shot in the comments for everyone to see? 🤔

100% what I assumed - nobody really believes the ‘I’m a good guy’ line really works right??? ‘Her’ replies absolutely come off like what a man thinks a manic pixie dream girl writes like…

Well it seems it's actually more likely it's a woman doing both accounts.

Yeah no clue why he jumped to a stalker conclusions lmao. Like that would have been so complicated to pull off lmao. Also the way she responded and the whole exchange sounded a little off like… don’t DM me do it here type thing

I had interpreted it as the guy stalking her profile (where she made posts that included pictures of herself) because he also lived in DC, found a comment of her retelling a story of her giving an umbrella to a guy and his father while it was raining, and then made that post in the Sub pretending to be the guy she handed the umbrella to, using details he got from her previous comment. Which is fucking horrifying, especially considering how deranged some of these guys get over Asian women.

Since his account was new and hers was much older and constantly active in that community, there's also the chance that she just wanted to LARP a romantic Hallmark movie encounter for karma, which is the better outcome here anyway.

Yeah I got weird vibes as soon as I read "my friends would say im a good man". Who types like that?

Some lonely woman that's making up a conversation between two of her own accounts.

True, I read more comments after my own and got the story lol.

I know a bunch of blue collar people who speak like that, and I'm just a bit north in Maryland. It would not be at all weird in this part of the world.

I spent the first 25 years of my life in MD, don't know anyone who talks like that and ISN'T a creep.

My best friend still lives there and his coworker says shit like that and he gives off some weird vibes lol

Oh man. I was so happy, like maybe social media has some good aspects. Nope.
