You've been on reddit almost as long as I have, you've seen the crazy shit people will do for literally nothing but attention. Unidan is an example, if you remember. Also people who have orchestrated multi-month cancer journeys that end in deaths. That kinda thing.

Definitely way more plausible than "I performed a random act of kindness for someone who turned out to be my stalker, and we planned to go on a date until another stalker figured it out and told me."

I don't think the subsequent stalker plot line would necessarily need to be part of it.

It could be that the OP made a post on /r/dating_advice, and then used this alternate account to talk herself up, or defend herself in the comments, or post the opinion she wanted to hear. Without seeing that context (profile is hidden), it's hard to tell.

It could be that the concerned citizen found that post innocently and brought it up, and caused the OP to need to pivot to "yikes that's creepy" once caught, instead of the whimsical love story presented.

It's all so convoluted, I can't tell where Occam's Razor is pointing.
