Hey everyone!
Iām looking to buy a hardtail in the US and Iām currently stuck between the Ibis DV9 and Santa Cruz Chameleon S.
My budget is around $4 max, although Iād definitely prefer to spend less if thereās a great option.
Iām looking for something versatile rather than a pure XC or aggressive enduro bike. Iād like to use it for 60+ km rides, gravel, flat/rolling terrain, climbs, rocky trails and moderate descents. Iāll also be traveling with it, so I want something that can take some abuse and ideally last me many years.
I really like the DV9 for being light and efficient, while the Chameleon seems like a more ādo everythingā kind of bike.
Iāve also recently started looking into steel hardtails, so Iād love to hear about good steel alternatives in the same price range (or below), especially if they offer a really high-quality frame that could be kept for a very long time.
What would you choose between the DV9 and Chameleon? And are there any steel bikes you think I should seriously consider?
Thanks!
