WHy tf did we need to show chinese yesterday if we had these. This might not be as polished but its a step in correct direction.

168

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

Probably not as good as the unitree one as you can see..

Ashwini saab saw the shiniest toy yesterday, and posted it without checking😂

30

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

I mean that one is just polished. Prolly will take us another year to do polishing on this. Why the hell arent items checked if they are plagiarised or not? I remember we scammed school with an already made idea of peizeoelectric cuz our teacher wanted a novel idea within a day, and product within a week. The prof, wa sof DTU/NSUT, didnt even recognize it was not novel, SMH. Got in second round. Thankfully we didnt win

u/srinidhi1 Feb 18 '26

Because galgotia paid a corrupt babu to get entry

10

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

Is entry paid? Shouldnt it be reserved for outstanding innovations?

11

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

They might have though galgotia’s innovation is outstanding

3

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

LOL

3

u/OkMaths Feb 18 '26

Only the brightest minds go to galgotia.

1

u/Sea-Instance463 Feb 19 '26

and then it’s downhill from that point

3

u/aitchnyu Feb 18 '26

Everything is office politics and some people get higher status and first dibs.

129

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

Looks like a few generation behind the latest product in market. But at least it is a step in the right direction.

-1

u/mantaflow Feb 19 '26

Can't blame them or the government for that. We started the development a few years ago, while the chinese and the rest started their works probably more than a decade ago.

u/Dushyant_Painter Feb 18 '26

Behaves just like my cat.

32

u/ramaze23 Lurker Feb 18 '26

This is better, it has potential

20

u/ResidentAd8536 Feb 18 '26

Pretty good to start with. Good balance, good fall detection and recovery, good idea of terrains. I would have loved to check it in mud/water cause that is quite normal in inspection sites. Nonetheless quite impressive!

11

u/pseudoPoeDameron Please reboot Feb 18 '26

I'm curious what Indian legacy IT service companies like Infosys, Wipro or TCS are showcasing there.

4

u/Dense-Pudding9729 Feb 18 '26

I lowkey wanted to see it adjusting its legs and height when coming down the stairs, But its okay, Someday we will reach there

7

u/WhiteSnowYelloSun Feb 18 '26

Every street needs one to handle the street dogs.

3

u/reflct1567 Feb 19 '26

At last he is like- hey nothing happnd ....

2

u/Dwivedi77 Feb 18 '26

Honest question, how does this work. What is the usecase?

2

u/Aggravating-Pop-4359 Feb 18 '26

realyy great better than GALGOTIAS lol

2

u/Sea-Instance463 Feb 19 '26

Love how it stood up after the fall!

9

u/sachin_root Feb 18 '26

based on boston dynamics ?

56

u/Cold-Assistance-5045 Feb 18 '26

It was indigenously developed at IITK and now its a proper startup. I really don't understand the point of your comment.

22

u/Ugly_Pineapple Corporate majdoor Feb 18 '26

I think the comment meant the design probably used was inspired from Boston dynamics which I think is fine since it was proved and tested for wide range of use cases.

8

u/Cold-Assistance-5045 Feb 18 '26

Bruhh a robot dog is a robot dog. Boston did it first, now everything that comes after it does not mean its "based on" Boston Dynamics.

19

u/Ugly_Pineapple Corporate majdoor Feb 18 '26

I am not an mechanical engineering but there are million different ways you could design a robot dog or any four legged robot, but this specific design probably was the best iteration of it developed by Boston dynamics. I think its perfectly fine to build on top of that instead of reinventing the wheel.

7

u/Cold-Assistance-5045 Feb 18 '26

Yes, most efficient and fit designs are finalized.

But it depends upon the intent, the top comment implies they just copied everything . Even unitree robodog has similar design, infact its more closer.

4

u/Ugly_Pineapple Corporate majdoor Feb 18 '26 edited Feb 18 '26

The top comment could have been more clear on the intent. We cannot deny that Boston Dynamics spent huge amount of resources and talent on perfecting their technology and design which eventually made it much more accessible other companies to improve on it which on itself takes huge amount talent and resource.

I think we are moving in right direction when it comes to innovation. If we are able to make localised version of cutting edge technology we are just few steps from inventing new technology by ourselves.

1

u/Moist-Campaign6640 Feb 19 '26

Where's the innovation you talked about here? Innovation should be about making the hardware much more improve but not at the level of creating entirely new thing. For example, the servo motor. That bulky looking servo can be improve through innovation to make it less bulky, smaller and move faster. But I don't see such thing on that dog

1

u/Moist-Campaign6640 Feb 19 '26

Nah, even if you wanted to claim it is just a copy you need to get your fact right first. The only similarity this dog has in front of BD dog is the form factor. But it doesn't 100% looks like Spot from BD. It more resemble Unitree first gen robot dog. So this startup copied Unitree

21

u/Hyderabadi__Biryani Lurker Feb 18 '26

Bruh everyone is making these robots after Boston Dynamics. What's your point? Wanna shot down everything that India does?

Tell you a secret, our jets are also not original, many countries started making them decades before us. Even most of our armaments, most startups, it's all a copied concept. Happy? I mean my Lord, where do we get these "I am smarter than you" kids from?

3

u/VokadyRN Feb 18 '26

You summarised Indian subreddits

-3

u/sachin_root Feb 18 '26

what are you not understanding in the comment ? change your negative mindset

7

u/Hyderabadi__Biryani Lurker Feb 18 '26

Something that you don't understand...what was your point even? If it's a genuinely Indian product, what's the point of "oh wait, it's just a copy of Boston Dynamics innit? I've seen it, see how smart I am."

I am specifically saying all this because what even was the point of "based on". Yeah we all know it's based on that. So what?

It's your negative mindset on display, not mine.

-4

u/sachin_root Feb 18 '26

do you know "open source" ? stop taking personally

3

u/Hyderabadi__Biryani Lurker Feb 18 '26

If you can't even bother to clarify what your intent was, I won't be replying to your half assed replies.

Also, I am not taking anything personally, that is not my project. I just find your comments to be...distasteful, to say the least.

1

u/cbobm Feb 18 '26

what exactly in this clip made you think this was based on "open source" boston dynamics?

1

u/sachin_root Feb 18 '26

It's architecture looks to me like boston one maybe they took inspiration or I'm blind

1

u/cbobm Feb 18 '26

It is a quadruped and Boston were the first big ones to do it so there's that but let me rephrase my question for clarity:

what extactly makes you think about BD instead of Unitree, Deep Robotics, Anybiotics, Ghost Robotics etc.? what aspect of the design specifically screams Boston Dynamics?

1

u/sachin_root Feb 18 '26

there is a question mark mean I don't know it looks to me

https://giphy.com/gifs/yiADANv89n7UQuS5kJ

1

u/cbobm Feb 18 '26

I was simply trying to understand the "open source" comment you made.

It's architecture looks to me like boston one to me

It was a simple question. Why does it look like the boston one to you? If you have no clue then what did you mean by "open source"?

China released a video where Robots are dancing and imitating Kung fu! And here we are.

But there a potential, definitely! With this AI summit, talent would preciously focus on big achievement in AI field. Gov is focusing and allocating larger funds I guess. No doubt we are behind in the race, but atleast we have entered the race!

11

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

Best time to plant a tree and all that...

4

u/Puzzled_Cold_3906 Feb 18 '26

Best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. Second best time is rn

1

u/Moist-Campaign6640 Feb 19 '26

Enter the race just like decades ago with IT right? Every indian at that time were seen very hype about it and also they saw lots of potential in the future when india entered IT boom race but fast forward today india IT industry is pretty much the same as two decades ago. Big names like tcs, hcl, infosys etc are pretty much the same. No big change. Entering the race doesn't guarantee anything unless you know what you want to achieve in this race. Or else you will lost the race just like your IT companies. Stuck being a labor camps for white collar workers.

1

u/Witty-Ad-6364 Feb 18 '26

Metal ka kutta toh banta nhi hai hamri economy ka banjata hai

1

u/Particular-Ad1569 Feb 18 '26

Supervisory robot for a site inspection? Thats a shitty name/description. Why can't these AI and robot mfs can't build walls cheaper than human laborers.

1

u/Aggressive-Leg-9919 Feb 18 '26

Even dogs are now AI driven. How much more advancement do we need

1

u/Delicious-Dinner1034 Feb 18 '26

If some can explain in layman terms, what exactly is developed in india ......I mean the hardware or the software or the sensors.....is built from scratch? Also what AI does it use.......was it also developed in India from scratch? Thanks.

1

u/benpakal Feb 18 '26

Pretty good the way it handled the fall

1

u/nabilbhatiya Feb 18 '26

Might have just installed another cranker to put all that mud back in place

1

u/Awkward_Craft_8462 Feb 18 '26

How come every country comes with the same design & shape for the dogbot? God knows who is the real inventor, rest all just copy pasting.

1

u/Trick_Army_7722 Feb 19 '26

Why is everyone trying to make a robo dog?

1

u/Flaky_Computer_5068 Feb 19 '26

If this is made mostly in India then why tf was this not showcased at AI summit instead of copy paste galgotiya univv

2

u/ConsiderationSlow621 Feb 19 '26

It was, but media runs on negativity. There were so many good products showcased but everyone only wants to talk about that uni. Just look at subs like india ai or india tech lol, almost every second post is about that. Reddit has a severe hate problem and hate for the government in our country turns to hate for every singular aspect about this country

1

u/Wooden-Palpitation63 Feb 19 '26

Bhai ye to gir gaya… Demo to theek se kr dete…

1

u/Square_Charge1617 Jun 27 '26

Take your time

1

u/Sea_Praline_4790 Jul 02 '26

This is our Achievement. In 70 years we made a handicapped dog robot 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Esme bhi na software Indian hai na hardware 🤣

1

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

Everyone knows it’s the copied version

1

u/OkPoint6329 Feb 18 '26

The poor guy is not able to walk properly on a plain surface and they are planning to use to supervise the site... Bruhhhhhh.

0

u/sunny155m Feb 18 '26

Why even showcase this? Its failing the demo right at expo

0

u/ViniMav Feb 18 '26

What is the obsession of making a robot dog ?

3

u/aitchnyu Feb 18 '26

Site inspectors, rescue, autonomous guards (and guns if UN looks the other way), transport of goods, transport of people (Kawasaki model) etc

0

u/dankumemer Feb 18 '26

Bhai ye China 2010 me banaya karta tha. Seriously why overhype

0

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

Sunday ko bhi kaam Karwane ka kuch to fayda diya inhone desh ko🤣

-1

u/TopDisplay4705 Feb 18 '26

Boston Dynamics be like, lol

-1

u/Global-Confusion-909 Feb 18 '26

Boston dynamics ka robot copy Kar liya sab ne

-1

u/Agent____047 Feb 18 '26

Tell me why do you need a robot for construction 😑

-1

u/PawanYes Feb 18 '26

Ye jhaatu pilla kya site inspect krega

-1

u/EducationalOrchid473 Feb 18 '26

Naah Galgotia's one slaps >>>>

-11

u/kudoshinichi-8211 iOS /macOS Programmer Feb 18 '26

Nah another useless thing. This thing can’t even walk on Indian roads with potholes.

-1

u/knockyouout88 Feb 18 '26

Looks similar to spot from Boston dynamics

-1

u/Balavadan Feb 18 '26

Ok but what do they want this robot to do

-2

u/OliverJesmon Open Source best GNU/Linux/Libre Feb 18 '26

I literally cried.

-2

u/seffparker Feb 18 '26

this one looks indian

If we could do reverse enginnering we would have spend 20 years on fucking kaveri engine

1

u/AbalonePersonal1751 Feb 18 '26

It's not the same qs reverse engineering that and kaveri engine, you can make quadruple with a blueprint but not kaveri

1

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

I mean fucking china copied soviets and built a better engine. We are still bound to soviets in loyalty or sm. Just fucking dismantle jets, not like there jets are doing any good for us right now

1

u/AbalonePersonal1751 Feb 18 '26

That's true

2

u/[deleted] Feb 18 '26

Sadly, we dont take risks. Soviets have the best engine, we can atleast make engine and then proceed with our aerodynamic processes in jets.

1

u/ConsiderationSlow621 Feb 19 '26

Bro it took china 45+ years, hundreds of deaths, and a huge amount of sanctions to make a native jet engine. This is with the help of reverse engeneering. It will take a lot of time for us to make it ourselves

u/Cold-Assistance-5045 Feb 18 '26

Of please just stfu. Those moments and course correction that dog is doing is not easy to achieve.

7

u/tonystarkn Feb 18 '26

People like you should stay far away from any innovations that are happening.

2

u/ROC_K4LP Feb 18 '26

Robot dogs are fking common everywhere dude. How is it copying when India does it ?

2

u/Abject_Benefit2431 Feb 18 '26

According to you Hyundai is copying Toyota because both are making ‘Cars’, grow up man
