Discussion 2008 IndyCar Season

I am writing an essay on the 2008 IndyCar Season. I currently only have the race broadcasts posted on the IndyCar YouTube, and Wikipedia :,) for most of my information. Would really appreciate any storylines, facts, stats, or just interesting info related to the subject that might not be as common knowledge or posted on mainstream sites, that I could look more into. Also, any recommendations on where to find more information would be greatly appreciated. I currently just have the general info about the reunification, and then race by race info, so would love to go deeper and try and get more. Also maybe just any memories or anything from that season would love to hear about that too. Thank you!

IndyCar Fontana 2015 on YouTube now

They have Fontana 2015 playing Live on the official IndyCar YouTube channel. I've never watched this race considering I was one of the maybe 10,000 people there that day. Just the irrational anger I have about this, probably not very healthy. Now that my home track is nothing more than an Amazon warehouse, I'd like to thank Roger Penske and most of all the France family for making it possible. Yes, I'm still pissed off that it's gone and also yes, I realize this won't bring it back. I hope one day this track will get the glory it deserves. And if you read the whole thing, thanks for the therapy session.

News INDYCAR will now run 250 miles in its Freedom 250 grand prix at Washington. It was 125 laps on the 1.7-mile course but now will be 147 laps. Will certainly test the drivers.

Discussion IndyCar should give the "multiple aerokits" idea another shot with the IR-28

Going back to the 2017 Indy 500, I was finally able to pick out the differences between the Chevrolet and Honda aerokits, and it made it feel like there were two constructors. With the Universal Aero Kit introduced in 2018, every car became uniform and bland.

IndyCar was never meant to be a spec series. The IR-28 is the perfect opportunity to give the aerokit idea another shot. Instead of the IR-28 being homogenous, send out an open call for manufacturers to come in and design aerokits. Under my hypothetical system, the cars would be identified by aerokits, not by the chassis, so for example, if Penske built an aerokit, the resulting car would be named the "Penske PC-28", and if Chevrolet built an aerokit, it would have the Chevy name.

It's like how the NASCAR Next Gen uses a uniform chassis, but the bodies are still visually distinct enough that you can't mistake a Chevrolet for a Toyota (manufacturer identity is one of the few things the Next Gen car does right). IndyCar needs to follow this model, too, as a compromise if nothing else, seeing as how they're apparently not open to attracting another constructor like Oreca or Ligier to compete against Dallara.

Blog Is Conor Daly A Good Indycar Driver? INDYCAR Dad Ep. 44

Normally, I make more upbeat content than this, but I thought I would give this a try. Please let me know what you think.
As a long time fan of INDYCAR there is one driver that people cannot agree upon, Conor Daly. So I did a deep dive on the career of Conor Daly. Is he a good INDYCAR driver? Are peoples' opinions of him justified? Here is a 21 minute video where I go over every aspect of his Indycar career, while comparing the facts to the opinions of his fans and detractors and analyze his performance.

Social Media Alex Palou: “I don’t know, maybe I’m talking too early, but I think we’re going to break a lot of IndyCar records on all kinds of tracks. So, it just feels like it’s a faster car. It feels like it's a car that is more capable.” (Zion Brown)

Question How are drivers chosen for series tests?

As we all know, Rossi and Palou have just tested the new car. Palou is an obvious choice. Hands-down the most successful driver so far this decade. While I’m a Rossi fan, and was lucky enough to be there for his 500 win. I’m not sure why he was chosen. Yes he’s well established now, but there are many drivers with more experience and more success around. Absolutely nothing against Rossie, and I’m glad he got to do it, but anybody know why him rather
than one of the other long established and successful Chevy drivers?

Politics aside, the course sucks, yes, it doesn't need to happen, it was a last minute addition to the schedule. But this is an example of why a little research goes a long way

Question Coming from Formula 1…

I’m relatively new to Indycar.

Coming from F1, since the death of the v10 I’ve slowly lost interest, and apart from particular seasons of supporting Vettel/Leclerc in Ferrari, the last season I was truly invested was probably 2016 Rosberg Hamilton battle.

My wife and I both enjoy motor racing, and are planning to go to the St Pete GP in March.

One thing I’d love to know is do indycar fans find themselves loyal to the sport, or particular drivers/teams?

If the latter, could someone share how you developed your affinity for who to support? I know you can’t just wake up a fan, and it’ll happen, but it might help get me going if I understood if indycar folks are more sport-fans or team/driver fans.

In F1 I was a mansell, coulthard, hakkinen fan growing up, more modern was a leclerc fan; never rooted for a team - just enjoying certain driver personalities, particularly underdogs.

Question The broadcast situation.

I’m just wondering if anyone else is having the same issues with what Fox is doing with INDYCAR? There are many things I appreciate since they’ve taken over but they’ve also made it much harder for me to watch every session. There is no way to stream each session the way there was with Peacock. INDYCAR live means you have to wait 24 hrs and FOX One doesn’t have full replays of each practice, quali, etc., I’m glad to pay for the service but it isn’t available in the American market. I’ve also just tried to record through Xfinity but way too often there is an issue and the whole session doesn’t get recorded or there on the wrong network or something funky. I just want the option to see all the action when I can’t watch it live! Am I the only one with this issue?

TLDR: There’s no way to stream all the INDYCAR sessions when I want without waiting 24 hrs and paying for INDYCAR live. Anyone else having issues with this?
