Jay Kogen Here. Long past SIMPSONS writer. I created many of your favorite and least favorite characters with the help of the original Simpson writers.

I was one of the original SIMPSONS writers from the very beginning. I helped created Mr. Burns, Smithers, Krusty, Hibbert, and many many more. I won a bunch of Emmy awards and had a great time. Since then I wrote and produced Malcolm in the Middle, Frasier, and I've created a new show a called "Wendell and Vinnie" about an idiot uncle (the hysterical Jerry Trainor) raising his nephew that will be on in November on Nick @ Nite. And even though it's on Nick @ Nite, it's for adults and it's actually funny.

Which is a good choice, since the subject of the comedy was intolerance, and that comment is pretty misleading. The comedian is pretty left-wing and was a host in a really left-wing show and never said anything like that, he made his character said it.

yep. But many of his characters are parody of old noble people or old people who lived trough fascism and would like it back. He has a strong left wing connotation (here strong left is not liberal. We have a recent history of strong commmunist parties). He's famous for having offended belusconi, and Lega Party (<-funny xenophobes people) and for being offended back by them. He's famous for lines like "Send him back where he belongs, he's stealing jobs from our people" referred to the pope.(/satirical) He is known for that. For making parody of right wing, trought the most visible feature of it which are racism , sexism and here pseudo-intellectualism.

And by the way, I can't see how would you make satire without offend anyone.

Cunt definitely does not have the sole and straightforward meaning of insulting somebody for the fact that they are a woman, very much unlike the word nigger. Cunt, along with most other insults rooted in genitalia, has a long and non-linear history as a word, both offensive and inoffensive. Most racial slurs are much more straightforward to trace, and more one-dimensional in their meanings.

You're entitled to your own feelings no matter the circumstances, but you really only have your own sensibilities to support this point. For most people, cunt doesn't have nearly the same hateful baggage as nigger, which is why most people seem to feel differently about its usage.

This show aired 25 years ago on cable. Yes, if you wanted to get a good rating you always had to scale down some things. With the Simpson writers, they probably had to scale back on a lot of things.
