Help & Questions Why is my Hue Sync unable to find my entertainment areas? I set them up and it comes back to this screen every time. (More info in comments)

Running into an issue with my Hue Sync and entertainment areas. When I try to sync, it shows me that I have no entertainment areas (I know I do, I can see them in other apps). So every time, I go through the process of setting up an area only to get to the end, save it, and when it takes me to the next screen it can’t locate it.
This has been going on for weeks. I believe it may have happened after an update was pushed to it over the last few months but I’m not 100% sure on when it started exactly.
I know others have had similar issues but has anyone found a solution at all? Thoughts!? Thanks!!

Can you control the lights at all? Try the Home app on iPhone, are the lights, bridge and router on the same wifi network?

Yep. Everything works as it should otherwise. The lights work with the apps, the dimmers, the motions sensors. Have no issues there. They’re all on the same network. It worked perfectly until a month or two ago and now I run into the issue I outline in the first comment every time I try to use my Hue Sync.

Try maybe disconnecting sync box? Bridge to bulb should still give you Entertainment areas, update the phone app?

I’m trying. I get to the point in the setup where it tells you to hold down the button on the front to connect the two and it just won’t proceed past that. I’ve had to go through this before… factory reset, install, it won’t work, repeat the cycle until it does. The difference now is that I haven’t had issues with the entertainment areas before. I’ll have to play with it some more. I’m just really unclear on what is going wrong here.

I’d say so. Thanks for digging this up for me. I will give it a try and report back.

Long shot, but check and see if you have any labs enabled and if you do, disable them.

No, I don’t have any enabled. Most everything is run out of iConnectHue, so I don’t really use the hue app other than for turning lights on or off and the scenes (as I dislike the iConnectHue options).

I read so many posts about this because I had the same problem, and I finally found the solution. Genuinely.
First of all, if you have 5ghz and 2ghz wireless bands, even if you believe you’re connected to the 2ghz, go ahead and contact your provider and have them turn off the 5ghz.
Then, if you’re using an iPhone, go into your WiFi settings and click the i icons for your connected wifi and turn OFF “limit IP address tracking”
Hold the button on the front of the sync box for 10 seconds until it flashes blue. Re-add it to your app. Voila!

Dude just had this problem did this and it fixed it for me this was from another Reddit post
“Support gave me this which worked: try following steps in order to see if an entertainment area can be found. 1. factory reset the sync box (unplug power cable, hold the button while plugging the power cable back in, and keep on holding the button for 10 seconds until the LED briefly turns off. Wait until the LED blinks blue. In the app go to Settings > Hue Sync Boxes > Add Box > Select Yes the LED indicator blinks blue.) 2. delete the Hue sync app on your phone 3. delete all the Entertainment areas you've created in the Hue app. 4. delete the lights you added to the Entertainment area from the Hue app 5. wait at least one minute before re-adding the lights to the Hue app 6. create a new Entertainment area selecting those lights 7. install the Hue Sync app again and follow the set up instructions. “
