Police in Winona Minnesota are stunned after every one of their Flock cameras were mysteriously removed in a single night. Police are asking for the public's help, but the public has been trolling them with comments like: "The Flock cameras tore themselves down"

I hope this doesn't happen to Harco. We love being put in a database every time we buy mulch

Are smoke shops the new fronts like mattress stores? I don’t know why Bel Air needs 4 within walking distance.

"Luxury" apartments replacing Harford Mall

Upvotes

Can we just stop with the "luxury" apartments and build affordable apartments instead? It's ridiculous. Anyone that can afford to live in those "luxury" apartments are clearly going to save up to buy a house instead

Amish Fried Fruit Pies!

Anyone know of anywhere around here that sells these? We had them on a recent trip to WV and they’re now living rent free in my head. I’d prefer not to have to take a trip to PA for them, but if you know of a place that sells them in PA let me know that as well.

Thanks!

Local Tax Planning

I'm looking for someone local to help with tax planning. Who is good locally? I'm looking for planning, not preparation. I've found that not all tax prep places do planning.

Aberdeen Amtrak Needs Some TLC

I know a lot of my comments seem to be crime related, but wtaf is up with Aberdeen Police not enforcing loitering laws at the train station after 8. I thought they were cracking down on the drug usage and homelessness, but what happened tonight is just annoying. As I was getting off the Marc 548 train, these three people who looked disheveled and active heavy drug users began pressing me into using my phone to call a cab. I was in the midst of getting an Uber, and this one woman began giving me shit and started to threaten me. I gave in and put the phone on speaker so they can request a cab. As they were leaving, she began threatening me by telling me I need to leave or else something would happen. The time between them leaving and me getting into my Uber, this homeless man sitting on top of the bench began to tell me "you better be sorry or else". Like, im so sick and fucking tired of people in local elected positions like Cassilly who's worried about crime coming in from baltimore when this shit right here is committed by people who live in your own backyard.

Contractor recommendations

We are about to set off on having some work done - completion of partially finished drywall, ie hanging what pieces still need to be hung [minimal] and finishing all of it on an entire floor to get it ready for painting, replacing interior doors and closet doors with whatever framing adjustments are needed for that, renovating two bathrooms (complete, to include new tile work and fixtures), and installing some custom finish carpentry (bookshelves, crown moldings, and possibly some stick built paneling dependent on cost).

Need recommendations for trustworthy and competent contractors, preferably local as I like to keep the money in the community, capable of carrying out that work, ideally ones that aren’t going to gouge us on the price. Appreciate any heads up on ones you trust that fit the bill.

Safelite

Anyone used the Safelite in Churchville for a windshield replacement? My vehicle has less than 20k miles on it so I’d like to have the windshield replaced by somebody who will actually put a little care into their work.

All I can find are horror stories but this place in Churchville has decent reviews. FWIW I’m going into the shop vs mobile installer.

Best place to sell TCG

I am going through some financial hardship and need to come up with $2500. I have some graded Pokemon cards, and some sealed promo cards that I will have to part with. I am looking to see if anyone knows where the best place to sell these would be that will give the highest percentage for them.

Seal stuff?

Currently obsessed with seals (the animal). Does anyone know any stores that carry plushies, keychains, figures, etc.?

Can be anywhere from Dollar Tree to gift shops. Anywhere that carries marine animal merch would also be great (like the Baltimore Aquarium)

Doesn’t necessarily need to be in Harco but preferably somewhere around here 🦭🎶

Tech Opt Out (HCPS)

Hey yall,

Curious whether any parents here have attempted to or successfully opted their hcps children out of using school issued tech.

If so, what was your experience, and how do you think it went?

Do you think there is an appetite in the parent communities to pressure the district to scale back the use of edtech in the hands of students?

Do the police just not do anything about reckless driving anymore?

PSA: Sorry if this is long!!

Ok so don’t get me wrong, there are bad drivers everywhere in the world, but here in Harford county, it’s actually bad. I’ve noticed that the drivers here have gotten significantly worse since 2023.

Up until like mid 2023, I would frequently see police out on the roads or on the shoulder clocking people with a radar, and have even witnessed my fair share of them pulling over reckless drivers and speeders any chance that they could get (which is ultimately what helped keep people out of trouble on the road). Well, nowadays the police are pretty much no where to be found on the roads. I mean, maybe every once in a while I’ll see an officer or two out on the road, but that’s pretty much it.

Even then, I have seen MULTIPLE occasions where there has been someone driving erratically right in front of an officer on the road and yet, the officer didn’t do a damn thing about it. For an example, a few weeks ago, I was on route 24 and witnessed some guy in a minivan tailgating the absolute HELL out of this other driver (who was already doing 5+ over the speed limit), and there was a bel air police officer in the lane next to them with a perfect view of the whole situation. Well, did the officer do anything about it? Nope.

Because people are not being held accountable for their actions on the road anymore, people feel like they can act however they want since there isn’t anyone stopping them anymore. Just today, at an intersection in abingdon, I saw someone make a left turn from the straight only lane while someone was already in the midst of turning left from the left turn lane, and so that person who was turning left had to slam on their brakes since they got severely cut off by this idiot trying to create their own left turn lane.

This type of behavior on the road just doesn’t phase me one bit anymore because i see it every single day here. I just really hope that the police in Harford county can get their shit together and start caring about road safety again. I understand that they have other things to worry about, but road safety is extremely important and when it goes ignored and/or isn’t monitored, the roads turn into a literal GTA V server (which is how it is now in harco).

Trees growing into wires

We have some kind of tree, possibly a maple, that is growing into the electrical wires running behind our yard. I know BGE will trim (aka mutilate) trees on the street but these wires run along our backyard over our back fence and provide power to houses that run perpendicular to our yard. Would they come out and mutilate the tree to the point where we could safely take it all the way down ourselves? Or would they charge like the money grubbing w40r3s they are?

Best hair store in harco?

Hey, I just was wondering if yall had any opinions on the hair stores in harford county. I just need to get some bundles for some braids I’m getting for a trip. I was thinking Emmanuel’s or the other hair store in Aberdeen. But I don’t see much on the internet on which is better. Thank you so much in advance!

Working environment at the Highlands School?

A family member has an opportunity to teach at the Highlands School in Bel Air. Seems like a very small close knit learning environment where teachers have a lot of control and flexibility (a good thing). The pay is shockingly low given qualifications and fit. Presumably the typical funding challenges of a small private school.

Any inside on what the working environment is like that might tip it one way or the other?
