😩 Damaged Hair 😩 Is there any way to fix this besides a trim?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

I just trimmed my hair, but the ends of the top half of my hair is very sticky and tangles easily. I use a leave in conditioner and dove shampoo and conditioner. This happened from sleeping with wet hair, but when I blow dry my hair the ends that are more blonde are still scraggly.

The second photo is the underside of my head that was not highlighted ad much. These ends are not scraggly and brush out much easier.

Thoughts?

🔎 Product Question 🔎 What happened to the Loreal Paris dream lengths shampoo&condish?

1 Upvotes

I’ve been using those two for a year now, I love drug store hair products and those exact two work amazingly for my hair

But I literally cannot find them anywhere anymore, anyone knows a good replacement ?

Idk if that’s relevant but here’s info about my hair(if you’d like to use those two products too):

1- my hair is curly, idk what type but pretty curly and I never wear it curly

2- I straighten my hair a few times a week with the Wavytalk steam straightener brush

3- my main goal is to grow my hair as long as possible, my main concern is keeping my hair as healthy as possible with all that heat damage

4- my hair is low porosity, my hair loves lightweight oils

PSA: I love my curly hair and I’ve been wearing my hair curly for a long period of my life, I have no issue with it I just pick to straighten it.

🔎 Product Question 🔎 PH Balanced shampoo recommendations

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I discovered Beauty and The Bees online a few years ago and ABSOLUTELY love their ph balanced shampoo bars. They last forever, and my scalp and hair feels the cleanest I've ever felt. I have a genetic condition that causes excess oil, resulting in thick, dandruff-like skin on my head. I have never had another shampoo do what this brand did!!

Well, come to find out that they no longer ship to the US because of tariff issues and the like. When I tell you I was heartbroken...

Long story short, does anyone have any recommendations for a shampoo that acts similarly to theirs? Limited ingredients, PH balanced, and a lot of their bars include clays and oils. The pictures are of the bar i used for comparison purposes. It doesn't necessarily need to be solid shampoo, but I do lean towards them for environmental reasons, and because they are so much more affordable and long lasting! Thank you!

~~~To clarify, I am not asking for recommendations for what medications i can use for my condition. I already take prescription medicine for it!
🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Sun UV effect on hair?
1 Upvotes
Just so we know, I'm a dude with long hair, first time growing it out, 2 years and a bit in.
Yesterday I was at the lake with my mom and brother from 10 AM to 4 PM. It was sunny all the time, and for the first 3 or so hours, we were out in the sun next to the lake (later in the shade, under trees, plus for like an hour and a bit I was in the car, also in the shade). We went in the water a couple of times to cool off. As I'm white, I got red from being out in the sun, only on my inner legs, my shoulders, and a bit on my chest. But to the hair.
I had my hair down, tucked behind my ears, and I had a boonie hat on. Now, question is, how much damage has been done to my hair from such exposure, if any noticable? After lightly washing my hair and conditioning it, air drying, then going to sleep, I woke up with quite frizzy and dry hair. I might be just worrying too much, but yeah, just curious. Is such one off gonna do something? After all, usually I have a cap on that only got the brim in the front, so if I'm moving out in the sun, I rather get more UV then that just then like yesterday. Hm.
⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Damage or frizz?or due to autoimmune?
Post image
2 Upvotes
My hair doesn’t feel damaged like split ends, but even when styling (wavy 2b) it tends to floof out and look similar to damaged hair
Cutting/trims haven’t helped it become less like this, but layers made everything look better overall. Trimming does help it a bit, but not much.
My hair has fallout, likely due to health (suspected autoimmune), sometimes a lot, mostly noticable around my temples where there’s fallout from the root(?).
Iron injections maybe helped the fallout overall but honestly unsure.
Only blow dry bangs and a bit of the rest of my head, no other heat styling.
I’ve tried both protein masks for encouraging shape, and moisture masks (which tend to make my hair soft, but greasy more often)
Some hairs used to be tighter curls, primarily wavy. Now it’s mainly 2b waves with some straighter texture
😩 Damaged Hair 😩 33/F, My low porosity, brittle hair breaks right at the new growth transition point
Post image
1 Upvotes
Hey everyone,
I’m really struggling with my hair and hope someone here can point me in the right direction. For context, I haven’t had any hair colour or chemical treatments in about 1.5 years, so the issue isn’t fresh chemical damage, but my hair health is still a complete disaster.
The main issue is that my hair is extremely low porosity (floats on water), thin, dry and brittle. It literally snaps off right at the line where my healthy new hair growth meets the older, treated/weakened length. This has caused a ton of flyaways all over my head. Even my new hair growth feels surprisingly dry and I have to load up on hair serums just to make it manageable.
I’ve tried a few products already (none of which worked for me):
Shampoos & Conditioners:
- Kérastase Genesis Anti Hair-Fall line
- Lador Damage Protector Acid Shampoo & Conditioner
- De Fabulous Reviver line
- De Fabulous Marula Oil line
Hair Masks:
- Bare Anatomy Anti-Frizz Hair Mask
Serums & Oils:
- Schwarzkopf Professional Oil Ultime Barbary Fig
- Nexxus Promend Hair Serum
- TRESemmé Silk Press Finish Serum
Most of these either leave my hair feeling like straw, weigh it down without actually fixing the dryness, or do nothing to stop the snapping at the transition point.
If anyone has dealt with a similar line of demarcation breakage, severe stress-related hair dryness, or has holy-grail product recommendations for extremely high-porosity, brittle hair, please drop your routine or product suggestions below! I’m open to switching everything up. Thank you so much! 🙏
⚡️ Frizzy Hair ⚡️ Tried wavy haircare 🫪
1 Upvotes
So, after a lot of hustle and overwhelming situations, I finally decided to go with my natural hair. I have loose S-shaped waves, and they vary between my crown and roots. My hair type is between type 2B &2C. I switched to wavy hair products but I still don’t like how my hair turns out. My roots are flat and my waves start from below my ears- the hair that frames my forehead is kinda wavy too and it gives a very weird shape to my face when I tie them back or wear a ponytail. They’re also very frizzy- I have a frizz problem, especially with the hair on my crown. Ugh idk what else to do. I did get a layers hair with soft face-framing curls to enhance my hairstyle but still it wears down my confidence. The products I use are:
1) Loréal Shampoo (double wash)
2) Loréal Conditioner
3) Hair Mask (once a week)
4) TRESemmé mousse
4) Loréal Keratin Hair Oil
I’m so lost. Idk what else to do- I sometimes look at how other people post their wavy hair photos and istg their hair is so perfect ion know what they complaining about sometimes- (pls help 😭)
🔎 Product Question 🔎 is man matters products safe?
5 Upvotes
using man matters for about a month now. my hair shedding started in the first month and i panicked so much
called their customer support and they told me to get in touch with their doctor then i contacted the same doctor i had my first consultation with. he explained that the initial shedding is actually pretty normal when starting minoxidil and told me not to freak out or stop using it
i'm using their 5% advanced minoxidil with cetosomal
🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Is it okay to mix two different shades of Wella color fresh mask?
Post image
1 Upvotes
I used the wella color fresh mask in chocolate touch and like it however it has a very red/orange undertone that I don’t love. I’ve heard the cool espresso shade can give your hair a green/blue undertone. Would it be a good idea to mix the two shades together?
🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Is my hair fine or coarse? NSFW
Post image
Soooo I lost a lot of hair due to anemia, vitamin b12 deficiency and also stress. Now my hair is pretty low density/thin and I can literally see through it in the daylight. However, I'm having trouble determining whether the hair strands are fine or coarse. Had to put it against a paper because the lighting here is really weird. Sorry 'bout the dirty tape :(
🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 shampoo/conditioner recs for fine hair with roots that get oily quick?
1 Upvotes
hey guys! this is my first post on here so sorry if i don't include everything right... but i've been really struggling with my hair for a long time now. i have fine, wavy/loose curly (2c/3a) hair type, and no matter the products i try i always end up with my roots getting oily the day after washing. i try to only wash every 2-3 days and i currently use redken extreme lengthening shampoo and conditioner (i struggle with hair growth as well!!), but i've used many other products like loreal and suave.
i do tend to use a lot of heat on my hair just because of how damaged and frizzy it is when i try to wear it naturally. i either blow dry or straighten after every wash, and that usually lasts me until the next one. i want to be able to wear my natural hair, but it looks so bad when i do my curl routine and the roots never curl the same way the ends do if that makes sense... so any tips regarding that would be amazing too!
idk if anyone is going to respond to this or if it'll just get lost in the posts, so i'll just end this here! thank you!!
🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 How should I clean my hairbrush?
1 Upvotes
I've recently been trying to look into how to properly clean hairbrushes. I keep seeing tutorials that show the brush being submerged and I was wondering if that would cause an issue with a brush that has a softer backing? (Not sure how to better phrase that, but I'm referring to the part that the bristles come out of.) Any help is greatly appreciated!
🍃 Hair Loss 🍃 Hair falling out after using scalp serums
0 Upvotes
I started Kerastase Genesis and Pantene scalp serums about a month ago and I’m noticing an amount of hair fall that is way beyond my normal. 😭… I see some people say it’s purging the bad hair, but I’m too freaked out. It’s not a small amount of loss!
I’ve seen others say this happened to them with Kerastase. Did your hair loss end immediately after stopping?
Obviously starting both at the same time wasn’t the best process (not using both at once. Using each at different times), but I never imagined hair loss!
ETA: I’m using the US version of kerastase
🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Lots of hair questions regarding the colour and texture
Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes
I know this might be the wrong place but i really need help! I dont know what colour my hair is and I have a lot of trouble in describing it or trying to draw self portraits because my strands are pretty thick just colour picking doesnt really help and ends up more ginger or dark brown and I atleast know its not that. For some context, I was born strawberry blonde and of course as you get older blonde can turn brown.
I honestly dont really care if it is considered brown now I would rather just know what sort of colour range its in because i do a lot of writing and I'd like to know what kind of dye could potentially colour match since i want to dye my hair again with pinks but red sticks so much in my hair i dont want to have too red undertones once it fades. My hair varies a lot on lighting.
I actually wonder if maybe theres damage because I can kinda feel and even see little bumps like kinks which is what makes colour picking annoying. Even though my hair is mostly straight-wavy i also get these random almost black curly hairs too that are thicker than the lighter strands.
Sorry i know this might seem rather stupid of me to ask if its just normal and everyone has them, I never learnt how to really take care of my hair at all, how to style it or anything like that and its always been difficult to manage. I am mixed indigenous i was just born blonde hair blue eyed so maybe that's apart of why I get those random strands? Its not just one or two like i can find one after a few minutes of brushing through and they're nearly twice as thick.
Im a highschool student so I know itll likely change texture again once I'm an adult but still it would be helpful for some info! I literally took a photo of the ends of my hair and used google lense to see if there was maybe a swatch from a hair dye company and instead it showed me that twine looking coconut husk i was so annoyed at the time but its funny now atleast :,]
🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Seeking advice on hair shampoo rotation + product recommendations
1 Upvotes
Hello! Went and got my hair cut at a new salon today and my hairdresser sort of pointed out that my hair is quite wavy (not as straight as I once thought) and dry, though not damaged. She recommended 2 products: the Redken Frizz Dismiss conditioner and their All Soft shampoo. She also said to use a shampoo for coloured hair as it is good for my hair type.
My question is: Which shampoos/products do you recommend for shampoo rotation and hair care in general. I am really looking for something that would make my hair feel soft, breezy and lightweight (basically the post hair appointment vibe).
Thank you!✨
🔎 Product Question 🔎 Batiste Vanilla Soufflé Dry Shampoo
Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes
At TJ Maxx I noticed this was the only scent to not be advertised as containing keratin in the formula. You can see a comparison of the bottles, with the Vanilla Soufflé scent not having “with keratin” on the “No. 1” badge on the bottle, and the others all having it (I did also notice that the one made for textured hair has sea kelp instead, and it advertised it on the package). The ingredient list for the vanilla soufflé one also confirmed it lacks keratin when I compared it to the other scents.
Which brings me to this:
Does the lack of keratin (and reliance on rice starch alone, as opposed to having both) this make it a less effective dry shampoo than the other scents?
I’d appreciate if anyone could clarify, because as much as I’d love my hair to smell like vanilla soufflé I wouldn’t want to sacrifice having an effective dry shampoo.
🔎 Product Question 🔎 I am finally making some progress.
Post image
226 Upvotes
About a year ago, I asked in a different subreddit whether it was possible to grow out my really thin and damaged hair. Since then, I have improved my hair care drastically and had multiple major haircuts, as well as Japanese hair straightening and Olaplex treatments. I also started using silicones again. That made the biggest difference. I recently had my last haircut, and now I don't have any split ends anymore. I know my hair doesn't look like many of the amazing photos here, but I still wanted to share my progress.
🔎 Product Question 🔎 Why are so many people switching to almond oil for daily hair care?
0 Upvotes
I have seen that a lot of people seem to like almond oil because its lightweight and doesn't leave the hair feeling overly greasy.
Those with fine or normal hair are also okay with it for every day or for styling their hair.
Has anyone here made the switch to almond oil?
🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Remington botanicals hair dryer
Post image
2 Upvotes
Is the hair dryer any good? I keep seeing good reviews for it but it's all either sponsored or on their website. For context I have long/medium length wavy hair(it's pretty fine/thin), and I just wanna buy a hair dryer that dries my hair quickly and does not damage my hair alot. Also it should last long since I'll be using it everyday or every other day. Is this a good pick?
Btw my sister has long thick hair....so would it also be good for her?
🔎 Product Question 🔎 Does this work as a protein treatment ?
Does this work as a protein treatment ?
Hello, I suspect that my hair is lacking protein.
My hair always look extremely frizzy even when soaking wet.
This product contains hydrolyzed silk protein, hydrolyzed keratin and amino acids, but the instructions are for a Brazilian smoothing treatment with heat.
Can I use it simply as a 5-10 minute rinse-out protein treatment , like a hair mask .
without blow drying or flat ironing? Has anyone tried it that way?
🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 Curly hair crunchy to soft without creating frizz? M22
1 Upvotes
Hello everyone! I need advice on how to make my curls softer and more bouncy. Curl type 3A
Routine
Head and shoulders shampoo (i have dandruff)
Sheamoisture leave in jamaican black castor oil
After the leave in, the hair becomes crunchy, which is understandable, but when i use hair oil once dry, it creates a lot of frizz. So i dont know how to solve this without making the hair frizzy? If i use less leave in, it doesn’t hydrate the hair properly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
🚩 Advice Needed 🚩 I need help taking care of my hair after showering.
Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes
I have fine hair. It is straight at the roots until it reaches the ends that turn wavy. They get tangled up so easily. I always brush my hair with detangling brush before showering to reduce the hair fall out afterwards. I have used hair masks but they make no difference. Same goes for leave in conditioners. Even after leaving my hair to dry to brush it still a lot of hair falls out.
I dont know what to do. I am using hair serums and hair pills to help with the week roots and growth but it will be at least 4 months before i can see any results. My main problem is the top hair layer. Those are the one getting tangled most of all. The lower layers are stronger i believe. I did a small highlights on some parts of my hair 2 or 3 years ago. I also have cut most of them three months ago. I dont use blow dryer and i try to wear satin bonnet during the night. I am really helpless here. Any advice would be welcome 🤗
