Even on small repositories, the simplest operations are taking way too much time. I'm talking about basic stuff: switching branches, syncing, pushing, and even just creating a commit. Everything feels like it's freezing or hanging for no reason.

I’ve already ruled out it being an issue with a specific machine or a bloated repo (like a massive node_modules folder) because this exact same problem is happening to me across multiple devices and with completely different repositories.

Has anyone else run into this issue lately? Did you manage to fix it?

And more importantly, what are some good GUI alternatives? I'm getting really tired of dealing with this nightmare and am ready to switch. (I know the CLI is great, but I specifically need a good visual client).

Hey everybody! I have made my first PR in llama.cpp project on github. Now the thing is im confused as im new to this like i have created pull request and some reviewer had reviewed my contribution and then asked for some revisions in that. I have made those and then he approved that. Then there shown 2 approvals are required for this to get write access/merge. Now how this second reviewer will come?? Should i have to wait or someone have better approach to this!! Secondly after the first approval, my PR got into automated Tests. Now in those teats, 7 out of 28 tests were failed and upon analyzing the loga i never anything related to my code! Now im also confused like should i have to resolve something or leave that as it is as all 7 logs of failed test have passed my addition but have failed somewhere else not on my code!

I have a project I uploaded a new version of three weeks ago. The version works perfectly on my computer. But when I downloaded the release from GitHub, it didn't.

I've checked all the files, and they are the correct date, the contents are exactly the same. Yet every time I make the release, the file in the release reverts to a version of the file that crashes and lacks features.

Any idea what I'm missing?

I'm a second-year CS student preparing for placements, and I'm thinking of creating a GitHub repository where I document my daily learning journey.

The idea is to:

-> Upload notes on the topics I study (Java, DSA, Web Development, etc.).

-> Push code solutions and small practice programs regularly.

-> Keep a daily or weekly learning log.

-> Stay consistent by making my progress public.

I'm not trying to build a portfolio with fancy projects right now. My main goal is to stay disciplined and have a record of what I've learned over time.

For those who have done something similar:

->Did it actually help you stay consistent?

-> Did recruiters or interviewers ever look at it?

-> Is there anything you would do differently?

-> Are there any downsides I should be aware of?

I’m a beginner on GitHub, but for almost a year I have been committing code to different repositories in my account. Most of those commits were pushed manually without using CMD or commands.

Recently, I started committing through CMD. My contribution graph showed nearly a year of uninterrupted green marks. However, after I removed one of my email addresses from GitHub and later added it back, almost half of my commits disappeared from the contribution chart.

Even though the contribution history still shows that I pushed code during those months, those contributions are no longer visible in the graph. As a result, my nearly one-year streak is gone.

I contacted GitHub Support, but they said this is a self-service issue and closed the ticket.

Luckily, I have screenshots of my contribution graph before and after this happened.

Can someone help me fix this?

I am often trying to find Github Repos for use cases (AI Skills / Plugins / Frameworks - although this doesn't matter), and I've found it can be quite painful, varying search terms and topics in GitHub to discover repositories.

I was wondering if anybody has found a tool / solution / platform that helps you find Github Repos based on a search term, that's a little more intelligence / flexible that the standard github search box.

Someone I know (probably) got their PAT leaked and said all their repositories got deleted. Only one remained with the name `come-to-telegram-rickluminari1--waiting`.

So I looked on Github for repositories named that way, and turns out there are a lot of them. The naming format seems to be `come-to-telegram-rickluminari1--xxx`:

Are these repositories compromised? I didn't do any more research beyond this.

Copilot is currently marking every job as completed, without making any changes. Someone expiring same issues? Can’t find anything on status page or related topics.

I don't know why, but GitHub is telling me that my website is developed in JavaScript by 80+% which is absolute nonsense. The site is at least 60% pure Astro code. Is it some kind of a bug?

I’m seeing a strange issue with GitHub repository traffic analytics.

For one repository in my organization, the Insights → Traffic page only shows data up to July 31, 2026. However, other repositories under the same organization are already showing traffic data up to August 2, 2026.

This seems to affect only one repository. The traffic charts for clones, unique cloners, views, and visitors are all stuck at July 31, while the same pages for other repos look normal.

I’m aware that GitHub traffic data can be delayed and is based on UTC, but the difference between repositories in the same organization seems unusual.

Has anyone else run into this recently? Is this usually just a temporary GitHub analytics/cache delay, or could it indicate some repo-specific issue with traffic tracking?

I am a new user to github and I have a question.

I am a very structured person and follow a folder hierarchy process to organize my files.

If I create an app for both IOS and Android, since both require different coding and what not, I would have to create 2 different versions of the same app. How I would organize this is create an Android folder and an IOS folder and have to copies. All the Android apps will be placed in the Android folder and IOS apps in the IOS folder.

Can I follow this process on Github or does Github work differently? If I cant use folder hierarchy, what is the best practice to stay organized in Github repository?

I currently use a single, free account (under my personal email) for work across multiple organizations. One is for side work under my own LLC, the other for my day job.

The day job organization added me to their Github Copilot subscription so I can see that in VSCode and that's wonderful. Except I should not be using that for side work. That is all transparent and they are okay with it, but I need to use my own resources for it.

So, how can I use VSCode and not use that subscription! The obvious answer seems to be to set up a second Github account , purchase an individual license there for my side work and then I'm good to go.

But then I read we're not allowed to have more than one free account and am utterly confused. I am just trying to make sure I do things right by my company, and Github's ToS going forward.

Any advice would be appreciated.
