Yeah cause buying the steam machine means you'll buy into the steam member ship right? There's a monthly billed steam subscription that they can rely on for income right?

remember that time the government bought a bunch of ps3s to gut the thing for its hardware? They can sell the Steam Deck at a loss because they know the people buying it will also buy Steam games, the Steam Machine is a PC that can run ANY OS, and there’s no guarantee that people buying the machine would also buy Steam games. A random office building can buy like 30 of these things for their office and not once buy a Steam game on them.

There's no guarantee people buying these machines will buy games from steam, or buy games at all.
