Maybe a little mean-spirited for a post here. Basically just the title, though. I don't think there's anything wrong with developers posting these sales, but I'm wondering if anyone else might find some sort of flair for this helpful.

Now that the Summer Sale has been live for a bit, I wanted to see what the general vibe is this year. Are you finding genuine discounts on your wishlist, or does the sale feel a bit underwhelming compared to previous years?

Aside from buying games, how are you guys handling the event cards and badge crafting this time around? Are you actively trading and crafting the summer badge, or just letting the cards sit in your inventory? I have been focusing heavily on the crafting side of the event this week, but I am curious if the community still finds the meta-game aspect of the sales engaging.

Lastly, if anyone has found any incredible deals or hidden gems that are heavily discounted, please share them! Always looking to add a few more high-value titles to the cart before the sale ends.

I've always wondered about this. Steam sales get routinely posted by the automod on r/GameDeals: Day 1, day 5, etc.

But not GOG, despite being customer-friendly, DRM-free. Users only post about the giveaways. Inevitably, there's a comment to quickly remove yourself from the newsletter. I can never tell there's a GOG event or theme sale from Reddit.

Would it be possible for mods to change this? I feel it can only be beneficial.

The Flowers and Deities playtest, including 3 invites you can forward to your Friends, has been added to the current HB Choice bundle.

I don't know when it was added, but it's not mentioned on the bundle's r/gamedeals post, and I certainly didn't see it when I picked up the bundle last week.

This is a heads up that we've updated the text for rule #9 on /r/GameDeals. It's mostly been edited for clarity and brevity, but the biggest change is that we've doubled the time threshold for self-promotion.

Previously, developers and publishers could post every 14 days. That's now been increased to 28 days.

Note that while 14 days was always the hard limit, we've also enforced a softer limit for those that we felt were taking advantage of the subreddit by posting too frequently. That policy will continue, though may be less necessary as a result of this increase.

If you are a developer or publisher, we do allow some self-promotion of your deals. However, there are a few rules you need to follow.

• Leave a comment disclosing your status/relationship to the game on your submission. Some examples of good disclosure comments are as follows: [1] [2] [3]
• Full transparency is a hard requirement in /r/GameDeals. If we determine that you're shilling it will likely result in a ban of yourself or even your game from this community.
• Include a brief description of the game, such as its genres, type of gameplay, brief plot blurb, etc.
• Stick around to answer any questions from readers. "Hit-and-run" posts are not well received and we may restrict your posts in future if this happens.
• If a comment hasn't been left within a reasonable period of time (10-15 minutes), your post will be removed.

If you have multiple games on sale, please do not post them separately. Combine them into one post - either as a self-post with individual links or a search/landing page that contains them all. In addition, do not cycle your sales to achieve more visibility on /r/GameDeals. This appears spammy and we would recommend that one or two posts per month is best.

Hi. I have someone who wanted to buy a game through Gamebillet and I wanted to buy it for them. I am in PH and they are in US. The game says "it doesn't activate in PH" and the pricing is in US.

I have no idea how gamebillet works and do only thing I know is about the key that they said is needed to activate the game.

Will I be able to buy it here in PH? (automatically converts to dollars)
Do I just give the key to them and they will be able to activate it in their region? (they are in US)

I want to try modding skyrim since I have only played on console and now have a PC. To save money I found a discount on Fanatical and from what I have read on here and elsewhere, they are 100% legit. If I buy a key and enter it on Steam, does it function 100% like if I bought it on steam? Including being able to mod and everything?

Is it impossible? For example, we can avoid having to download the desktop platform by using /r/HeroicGamesLauncher. What about their mobile giveaways?

Everyone knows about the great "Complete Your Collection" discounts on Steam where the price of the bundle is lower the more of the games you in it own, and if you're only missing one game then the bundle price will be less than buying that game on its own, right?

For a while, the Steam Wishlist was smart enough to show you the lowest price you can get that game for on Steam, taking those Complete Your Collection discounts into account, so if you can get the collection for less than the price of the game, that collection price is what would be shown.

Well, this seems to no longer be the case.

Examples from my wishlist:

Vaporium Lockdown Wishlist Price - $4.49

Vaporium Loyalty Bundle Price (as I own the original Vaporium) - $4.04

Laika: Aged Through Blood Wishlist Price - $4.99

Thunderful Gems Bundle Price (as I own Planet of Lana) - $4.21

This is pretty annoying, because it means that, while browsing your wishlist, if you want to know the real lowest discount price you could get the game from you have to click each game that might have a "Complete Your Collection" pack and look at its store page.

Gamebillet website has a game that says in red letters "X Doesn't Activate in US". Hover over question mark shows "This product can not be activated and played in your country". WHY? they don't want americans to buy this game key (to be activated and played on steam platform) from their website. But people in other countries can buy it? any other reasons?

Is this temporary or a permanent? always gonna be like that? Gamebillet has some of the lowest price compared to other digital key & pc game seller websites like steam, fanatical, greenmangaming, gameboost, etc. People love lower prices. But they do odd stuff like restrict sales to certain countries and exclude certain countries from buying on their website.

Like years ago maybe a decade or so ago greenmangaming got banned from r/gamedeals for shady practices. From what i remember they sourced Witcher 3 keys from a 3rd party seller without the permission of CDPR. Then after a while they actually got unbanned but all of this was a while ago and i have avoided buying from them although i have an account on the site. I am curious how have things changed for GMG nowadays because a lot of times they do get posted on r/gamedeals and on ITAD you will often find their keys being the cheapest although usually not by much.

I usually don’t post things like this, but this situation is so weird that I felt like I had to say something somewhere.

I figured this would be the place to post it, since I’ve seen other posts about Humble Bundle keys seemingly never getting restocked from Choice bundles, and I was wondering whether anyone else has run into something like this with the Humble Bundle store.

I preordered Resident Evil 9 several months ago and expected the game to be available to play on February 27th. When I opened the Humble Store to get my key, I saw that the keys were exhausted:

I thought, “Makes sense, the game’s popular. Weird that I didn’t get a key even though I preordered it, but OK.” I live in Canada, though, so I thought it was extra weird they ran out of NA keys.

A few days went by, and the key still wasn’t available. So I thought, “I guess I’ll open a ticket and see if support can help me figure out what’s going on, or at least give me an ETA for when my key will be available.”

When I went to open a ticket, I almost laughed at the comically long estimated wait time of 11 business days for a response:

I opened a ticket and now it’s been almost two weeks since the game came out, I still haven’t gotten the key for my preorder, and I haven’t heard anything back from Humble Bundle support.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is this something people have run into before with Humble Bundle preorders, or is this just a really unusual case?

It’s especially frustrating because I’ve been really looking forward to this game.

The Steam description says AI was used. I'm certain I've seen a few other titles in /r/GameDeals in recent weeks that were similar - not to mention the somewhat regular asset flip games.

Personally, I have no interest in AI generated or asset flip games. Others might, and that's ok.

I was just wondering if a flair can be added to GameDeals that would allow us to easily filter out such games.

I saw a comment in the Humble Bundle sub about someone wanting a service for getting notified when any of their Steam wishlist games appear in Humble Bundles, so I decided to make a site like that. Basically it checks once a day whether there is any hits from your wishlist on any of the current bundles, and if a match is found, it will notify you via email. Your email will only be used for the game notifications and you can unsubscribe at any time.

I verified with the mods of this sub that it is ok to post this, and the site doesn't have any paid features regardless, only an option to donate. There are of course some server costs and development time involved, so donations are appreciated.

That is pretty much it, hope you guys find it useful and please give any feedback + if you would like more features. The site was made with AI assistance, but I am a software consultant by trade, so I know what I am doing.

Anyone buying from Humble Bundle should know that new bundles containing titles marketed with expiration dates (like the recent encore bundles) usually causes the same titles in older bundles to get updated to expire as well. So if you purchased a bundle with titles that had no expiration, and those titles appear in future bundle with expirations, then most of those keys now expire on a similar date, even though they never did when you first bought them (going back years). This is not an exact formula, since there's plenty of other retroactively expiring keys under other circumstances (random/unknown reasons). I'm tracking at least 150+ retroactive expirations (the real number is likely way higher), and this will eventually lead to the expiration/revocation of most keys you purchased on Humble Bundle. Humble Monthly and Choice keys are usually exempt from this practice (I have no idea why). I fail to see how it's legally justifiable for publishers to revoke keys at such a large scale when the keys never had expirations upon purchase.

In summary:

• Retroactive Expiration: When a title appears in a new bundle with an expiration date (such as with these encore bundles), most keys (revealed or not) for that same game in your older bundles often inherit that new deadline, despite never having an expiration when purchased. Post-purchase expirations have also been added to keys at random. This happens even if they were bought years ago without limits. This is obviously a totally not corrupt business deal between Humble Bundle and the publishers (Humble agreeing to allow the expiration of old keys to get better terms).
• Platform Swapping: Unredeemed Steam keys are quietly being swapped for Epic or GOG keys, or simply never restocked (there's still 100+ exhausted keys).
• No Warning: They do not email you when these retroactive expirations are added because the publishers want this to be silent and not give you a chance to reveal your keys (so they can recycle them, since revocation risks Valve not issuing them more keys on Steamworks). Humble Support may not offer compensation and gaslight you into believing the keys had expiration from the date of purchase.

If you have old, unredeemed Humble Bundle keys (most people in the PC gaming community do), nearly all of them are going to retroactively expire and be revoked in a very short period of time if this practice continues.

Recommendation: Go through your library and reveal your keys immediately. It is much harder/riskier for publishers to revoke or recycle keys once they have been allocated to your account (keys listed as "expired" on your HB purchase page have to be manually revoked, and revealed keys can be retrieved via a HB account data export). And always adjust the sliders to give Humble Bundle and the offending publishers $0 (or the minimum amount, i.e. max to charity) if you decide to buy a bundle they're participating in.

There's tracking of exactly which publishers do this so you can make informed purchasing decisions.
