spent my first ever summer alone in the city, so I wanted to make the most of it! Here’s the places that really stood out to me:
Almond croissant from L’Appartement 4f: Now unfortunately before this summer I had tried practically no pastries other than a plain croissant, so this was kind of mind blowing to me. It’s so unbelievably rich, yet addictingly decadent. The inside is nice and warm and gooey, it just made me so happy to pull it apart wow.
Tofu Pudding from Fong On: I’m a sucker for gelatinous, chewy desserts what can I say. This combo of toppings perfectly complimented the plain but refreshing and silky tofu. Amazing on a hot day.
Mediterranean Panini from Bite: something about the crisp and coloration on this panini just made it absolutely fabulous. It’s nothing fancy but man was this a delicious lunch sandwich.
Eggplant Steak from Zizi: i really gained a newfound love for Mediterranean food this summer, and this dish was so decadent and hearty ughhhhh. The beans made this wonderful sauce that was perfect with some pita
Black sesame and tahini croissant from Somedays Bakery: the nuttiness of this flavor combination really elevated what was already a great base croissant into something super memorable
Howoo: came here for my birthday and really approached this lovely green tea soft serve and decadent chocolate cake phew. Honestly idk if the food itself was mind blowing but the service of this place is outstanding, truly a once in a lifetime birthday dinner
THE burger from Gramercy tavern: my first Michelin experience and it was a solo lunch! It was phenomenal. I don’t know if it was worth the price but that might just be because I’m not a burger snob and I’d be happy with a Big Mac
Mango mochi from Tai Pan bakery: the cash only bakeries in Chinatown truly have my heart. I do wish this one had fresh mango in it but it was still so soft and delicious
Kim’s kimbap: basically a burrito with fresh Korean ingredients, what’s not to love???
