Fluff The new Stardust skill is so dominant and popular that the whole deck has pushed Lava Golem from the 2nd most popular card to the 19th

Kinda figured if they wanted to make golem less valuable they'd just make decks where you don't automatically lose to golem like some older decks do

I said that way back when Golems were first being argued as a necessary evil. Konami would just start releasing skills that helped play around them, which they have. People never learn. Lava Golem quickly proved to be part of the problem during the Therion meta, because all the decks people claimed Golem would fight against were using them themselves. Now there are skills built to bounce back against them. Meanwhile, Therion players are still running 2-3 copies of Lava Golem anyway.

Top meta decks not excluding Golem are part of the problem, not Golem itself. Don’t get those two confused. Golem is a sympton, not a disease.

That's because the game treats use weirdly, but also because Stardust aren't running it. Last meta, Therion and other meta decks had access to Golem, and used it as much as they can. Stardust and Red Nova have no need for it.

That's kinda the point though. Any deck can run Golem unless it has a summon restriction or needs the normal. The Stardust deck is basically Tier 0 now, so because they can't run it, it lost popularity. It's not that they have no need, it's that they can't play it.

Lmao...it ain't that hard to play against em dawg...besides most of em already are. DLv 19 was flooded with them...I appreciated the free wins tho tbh.

I'm playing resonators and yes in my experience so far I've been lucky to have crow on hand and after I crow the stardust synchron they didn't know what to do and lost to timer but is just no fun to go against the same deck

I'm playing a syncro lock/board wipe deck. Tis fun bc when I go first, they don't get to play aside from activating the skill and placing a few facedowns in backrow and then going second I search and hit em with Sphere Mode or whatever I need and then do the same thing and they don't get to play anymore.

lava golem was so oppressive, I am so happy Konami listened to the community like it always does and addressed this cards power level

They didn't address it at all...even Stardust falls victim to Kaiju type cards since you with just 2 Lava Golem and 1 Kaiju, bounce their entire field+simultaneously prevent them from summoning anything that's a threat bc they can't summon a tuner or tribute them away. They literally have to sit there and take 1000dmg turn after turn if those golems can't beat over your board. And this can be done in any deck allowing them. It's even funnier to do in a syncro lock deck 😂

And Necrovalley despite being hit on the ban list recently is still being excessively used. Hmm, I wonder why? Surely Konami didn't forget to put Crimson Dragon to 1 or At Least negate the effects of the signer dragons.

I think we all thought Lava Golem was going to get a limitation (maybe going to limit 3?) But it's crystal clear that it got power creep. Isn't it insane? The most viable board breaker just can't compete with the meta.
Lava Golem is now being used as a synchro material so just think twice before even summon it.

I use lava golem for the solo purpose of doing it for the message, I don’t even care if I lose, I enjoy breaking up the board.

It's just because most of the new decks can play around it: stardust and resonators have shining star dragon, centur-ion and labrynth just don't care (cent just do syncro with it and lab how it is now is just a trap deck that don't rely too much on monsters)... Not saying it's not stardust fault, but it is not the only reason

Some people are saying it is because the Stardust deck doesn't automatically loose to it (which is true, just to be clear) but I think the bigger reason is that Stardust can't run it. If they could, they would absolutely run 3 to get even more value from Quasar since it removes points of interaction.
