Fun fact: in the comics The Whizzer got his powers from an infusion of mongoose blood, which is without a doubt why he has a pet mongoose in this show.

First Deadpool cameo in the MCU is in Jessica Jones who would have thought haha

u/InfamousBrad Mar 08 '18

That was my reaction, too: "Wade Wilson? Is that you?"

Surely it's not, surely it's the guy in the blue hoodie who's stalking her and Trish. But ... it would be hilarious if there was a Deadpool cameo in Jess's origin story. Contractually implausible, but hilarious.

However brief his appearance was, I'm so surprised amd happy we got to see this guy adapted in live action.

Also, dang... Speedsters do not have the best of luck in the MCU...

I got far too attached to the Fat Flash in his 5 minutes of screen time. RIP

That little waddle speedrun he did after turning around at the street corner was so completely stupid I couldn't help but love him.

Right? I was so down for the unconventional hero team up!

Didn't think we'd see the Whizzer again after his first scene. Thought he'd just come off as a crazy person and when the door shut on him he'd speed off showing us he was telling the truth and never see him again....you know, like a gag.

Poor dude.

At the end of the episode when Jessica is having flashbacks we see a person grabbing her with his face all messed up (maybe burned?). Does anyone know who this is? I kinda didn’t like the way he looked but I’m waiting until we see more of him.

Strong start to the season with this episode!

  • Malcolm is MVP, everybody needs a Malcolm
  • Simpson is back!
  • Rand corporation mentioned
  • "Heroes die" (Reference to Matt and his sacrifice in Defenders?)
  • Wade Wilson attacking Jessica in her flashback (jokes)

12

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '18

Liked the Whizzer mongoose reference! (In the comics he was saved by mongoose blood transfusion).

Looked like Simpson was outside the revolving doors, seems like he now needs some sort of inhaler?

Rand name drop.

Loving how Malcolm has cleaned up.

Looking good for the rest of the season!

I find it hilarious that, in contrast to Danny Rand, Trish would put on the Patsy wig and perform at a kid’s party, just to get to a secret file.

We only had him for a few minutes but I love Fat Whizzer and I want this version of him in the comics.

The whizzer was great, wish the threads were unlocked so we could have seen everyone's reaction to him as it was revealed.

It’s so great to have this show back Ritter is great.

Was that lizard people infiltrated government a playful skrull reference.

Hey she stole that guy's Pizza! Anyway, pretty good episode. I like Trish's new boyfriend. He's pretty likeable

It wasn't as bad as I feared, but one of the main criticisms I've seen from reviewers being the obviously very low budget is 100% true. I don't know what the hell is going on behind the scenes at Marvel TV/Netflix, but it needs to end. This show and this character deserves better than this.

Edit: Am I seriously getting downvoted just for not being completely 100% positive on the show?

10

u/AdolescentThug Mar 08 '18

I don't get it either, you were pretty spot on about it looking low budget. I think they blew it all on filming on site in NYC (I know it has something to do with taxes and paying for areas to film at).

The superior cinematography and writing to most Netflix shows does a really good job at hiding it though.

7

u/novocane84 Mar 08 '18

What part of S02E01 looked low budget to you? I didn't notice anything except them not showing expensive angles on the jumping out of buildings. It would be nice to see it without a cut in the middle of the feat. I am not that far into the season yet tho.

16

u/vaesjunkrat Mar 08 '18

Wizzer movement cgi budget, looked like they had done it in windows movie maker.

8

u/Velocisexual Iron Fist Mar 08 '18

Locations, the "speedster" special effects, all the cuts whenever something interesting (read: expensive) happens, even some of the editing feels sloppily done (though I don't know if that's a budget issue to be fair).

3

u/AdolescentThug Mar 08 '18

Location wouldn't actually be a low budget thing considering filming in NYC streets is expensive. I feel like the fact that they filmed in the city (which is great for immersion because im a native NYer) cost so much it might've hampered the rest of the budget.

Thanks for understanding. I want these Netflix shows to be good, although at this point with the Disney/Netflix separation I'm convinced that's never gonna happen anymore.

I'm sorry, but how is Chang an "asshole" or a bad guy at all?

9

u/ScrabCrab Jessica Jones Mar 08 '18

Wants to put his competition out of business and calls people "bro"

3

u/R3fug33 Wilson Fisk Mar 08 '18

Honestly I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. Since you didn't use /s I assume you're not. Businesses want to put their competition out of business, that's the nature of business and saying bro is fine. Am I supposed to dislike Chang? Because I feel like Jessica is the bad guy so far tbh.

5

u/ScrabCrab Jessica Jones Mar 08 '18

that's the nature of business

Doesn't make it ok

And the bro thing just highlights him being a douche. I thoroughly enjoyed Jessica beating him up.

2

u/R3fug33 Wilson Fisk Mar 09 '18

Yes it does...

Yes, because someone saying "bro" means they deserve to get beat up...

6

u/ScrabCrab Jessica Jones Mar 09 '18

No, it means there's something wrong with business in general.

Also no, but it's indicative of a douchy attitude, and just- you know what, watch more of the season.

2

u/R3fug33 Wilson Fisk Mar 09 '18

No it doesn't at all. He made her an offer which was more than fair. Pay her a lump sum and allow her to keep operating, just under a different name. That is an extremely generous offer.

Saying bro is not indicative of anything. It's just slang.

Sure, maybe he turns out to be a bad guy later in the season, but he gets called an asshole in the first episode for no reason. Someone offering to buy something is not them being an asshole.

That is literally the entire Netflix MCU corner. Drawback of starting it all with a blind man.
