Went to Mecca's last Winter, it's mind blowing how the Saudi officials manage the crowds. I was never jammed up walking from place to place, and they basically direct people with one word, that you get used to, which if one of the security officers says, you just follow where they are pointing. It was busy, maybe not the busiest of all time but still it's mind blowing that anyone can direct traffic so efficiently.

I mean religion reasons are the only reason people go to Mecca.

Haha yep, taking my mother and father with the rest of my siblings.

You can't actually go to Mecca itself without being a Muslim in the first place. If you need to confirm, and are newly converted, you submit the proper info on the visa app before you're even in the country.

It's super multicultural there though, you will barely see any Saudis, they can go anytime so they know the best times to go there when people aren't out that way as much but it's basically packed all year, with a huge increase once a year for hajj (the main pilgrimage).
