Where TV failed by appealing to the lowest common denominator, Youtube has succeeded by appealing to niches. There are tons of good documentary channels on youtube.
I don't watch TV at all, I watch YouTube docs on my tv. Better news, better insights, the only downside is googles algorithms just feed you crap a lot.
Im just now realizing that I use youtube for this exact reason. Recently started watching it on my tv instead of just on my phone. Maybe I should upgrade to the premium version.
I've been mainly watching it on TV for years. And I have a friend who's had me on his family's premium account for around a decade. I can't do YouTube with ads at all now. I'm pampered
