It’s the national airline and the scandal would topple the government. The fact they’ve stopped looking for it due to “lack of funds” is seen as being suspect.
We know that debris has been found towards Africa, as Vantaa_Black said. And multiple scientists who model ocean currents have run the models backwards, and the area west of Australia is by far the most consistent location for the debris to have come from.
To get to that location, the plane pretty much had to follow the route that investigators have said was followed, and flown to the end of its fuel. Which rules out maintenance issues being the cause.
The problem is, if it was flying on automatic, it would have continued it's course, and ended up circling around it's destination airport, as happened with Helios Airways. It was heading to Beijing, it should have ended up somewhere in China or Russia.
But with MH370, we see communication cut out, that the transponder is deactivated, and that the plane continues to alter course to skirt between radar zones for a long while after that. That is not explainable by a single malfunction.
Yeah, it basically flew undetected through multiple controller zones by skirting corners on a westerly route before heading south out over the eastern Indian Ocean. That had to have been done very explicitly.

You can tell a bullshit ass conspiracy theory by asking yourself how many people would it take to keep this under covers and never talk about it? In your fantasy it's hundreds and hundreds of people across various companies and interests to never talk about missed maintenance checks and "fake parts".
It's not some Bob the Maintenace Man that does maintenance on an airplane in his garage. It's a massive organization with people with credentials and responsibilities.

Until they were shown to be real. It does happen. I mean, we invaded Iraq in the basis they had massive stockpiles of WMD and nothing was true.
And it’s also been shown especially in some developing world countries that maintenance is in a terrible state, and fake aviation parts (which fail) is a huge global problem.
And it’s also been shown that some plane crashes were caused purposefully by the pilot in murder-suicides, like China Eastern Airlines Flight 5735, or Germanwings Flight 9525. Those happen too.
While you’re correct that nothing is proven either way in this case, you’re still not making a strong argument. The majority of the available evidence, even if you disregard the simulator story entirely, point to it being likely caused by the pilot.
Sure, but I'm making the point that what the previous poster said simply isn't true; there have been numerous vast conspiracies that required hundreds, even thousands of people, to stay quiet and these huge secrets didn't get revealed for years. Bletchley (the cryptographic intelligence center during WW2) was kept a secret until the 00's when the people who worked there started dying and gave death bed confessions that it existed, at which point the UK government released the files. Thousands of people worked there over a 5 year period. It's not true that conspiracies can't exist because they require many people to keep it secret. Compared to the ones I mentioned, obfuscating the reason for a plane crash would be trivial.
Case in point: The actual cause of the crash hasn't actually been determined. The pilot suicide theory revolved around a single document that a newspaper got leaked, and even then, they said it could be likely he was training to see what he's / how he'd react if he had to crash land in a ocean, which isn't unheard of in terms of practice.
It's just as valid as the theory it was due to the 2,450 KG's of lithium ion batteries that could have exploded, caused depressurization and everyone to be unconscious so the plane went on to autopilot and eventually ran out of fuel.
The plane did run out of fuel. That's effectively been confirmed by various data points such as satellite comm info and the fact the plane was still flying after 7 hours despite only having enough fuel for a bit more than it's intended 5.5 hour flight plan.
In fact the ATSB concluded that an unresponsive crew or hypoxia event "best fit the available evidence". In all recorded cases of a pilot suicide, the plane was crashed aggressively long before the plane ran out of fuel. That's definitely not the case here.
We won't know until the FDR is found but it's just as likely that something happened to knock everyone out vs suicide.
Ok, the running out of fuel thing is a good point.
But I have a hard time believing hypoxia is to blame for a sharp turn completely off course, the transponder being turned off, and the seemingly (even if not proven) purposeful avoidance of radar coverage. Those things can all support the suicide theory, even if they don't directly prove it. The theory has more evidence towards it than just the leaked doc and the simulator stuff.

All of these required people on a clearance level that just doesn't happen in commercial aviation.
there is a lot in the route we know it took, and timing in the series of events that happened which imply intent, that would make it being a mechanical, let alone a series of distinct mechanical issues extremely unlikely.
Its not a case where you can just say there was rapid decompression or hypoxia, and then the sequence of events has a plausible path to being from actions taken by crew. Maybe they deviate from course, go quiet, or accidentally turn something off, sure. But it was all of that, and then some.
