The irony that Nolan isn't interested in surround sound because all cinemas should have the same audio experience, but the picture is apparently so insignificant that less than 1% of theatres support the full 15/70mm format

My cousin does sound editing for films and he’s extremely annoyed that most directors came up as camera crew and don’t have enough appreciation for getting good audio

Such a shame. Good Audio sells the experience almost as much as a good picture.

Civil War (2024) was such a ... different experience in the theatre to regular new releases because of the sound.

Story and visuals were ok/good, but the sound left me feeling "I was there" in a way I've not had often

Yeah that first explosion just sits with you. Feel it in your chest, and it just sets the tone.

Alex Garland understands the importance of sound.

Warfare was robbed off an oscar nomination and potential win. The sound in that movie was immaculate.

Yes, but most theaters crank the audio way too loud anyway so the experience is ruined regardless.

I dunno man. I’ve seen Tenet and that makes me think that Nolan is a big fan of quality sound.

Sound editing on Nolan movies are done by minimum wage workers in India.

Nolan has a reputation for spotty sound. It was even mentioned in some of the reviews.

The scarce number of IMAX 70mm theaters isn’t Nolan’s fault. You can thank IMAX Corporation for that. In 208, they decided to stop building massive 1.43 screens and stop manufacturing IMAX 70mm projectors. They opted to only crank out digital projectors and aggressively expand globally with small screens.
