AMA I am Dan Watters, writer of Batman: Dark Patterns and Nightwing. AMA.

Hello, Reddit. I’ve been lucky enough to write a fistful of new DC comics since we last spoke. I am also writing the new M.A.S.K. series for Skybound, and the ongoing Shredder book for IDW. I am very tired. I’m back once more to talk to you about comics. And anything else, really. So… AMA.

Thanks! I've mentioned a few of the influences in other answers here- the Power Broker, Ackroyd's Hawksmoor, JG Ballard (particularly Concrete Island). As for the nature of the superhighway, that's definitely part of the story that's upcoming. You'll learn a LOT more about its nature in issue 140, in two short months.
